Spotify removes 70 Joe Rogan episodes after India.Arie video

Spotify has reportedly removed 70 episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience that see the comedian using racist slurs.

Yesterday (February 4) India.Arie shared a compilation of clips that featured Rogan using the N-word repeatedly and describing a Black neighbourhood as being similar to the Planet Of The Apes movie.

India.Aria also pulled her music from Spotify (watch the video!):

Here's horrific Joe Rogan's apology:

If you're still defending him even after watching those videos, read what @CameltoeKween said:

"I feel like everyone is missing the point - it's not about censorship, it's about the fact that Spotify paid Joe Rogan $100 MILLION DOLLARS for his disinformation podcast, while paying artists CENTS per stream. Music is supposed to be the backbone of their platform, and yet they're solely focused on paying a conspiracy grifter like Joe.

Not to mention Spotify was funded by the Kushners' (of Trump fame :huntyga:) company Thrive Capital. So... put that together with their odd obsession with paying Joe top dollar and it starts to seem very suspicious :partysick:

Here's the difference: If Joe's podcast was free published to a podcast platform, like Apple Podcasts, then I would just ignore it/not listen to it. But when he is prioritized above all other artists and paid an insane wage like that when music artists see next to nothing in payout... that's where my support for Spotify ends :iamfair:"

Also @Eriq pointed out:

"Isn’t the guy who helped create the mRNA technology just on a vendetta because he was previously not given enough credit for something?

I don’t have a horse in this race because I got the vaccine and that’s that (I also don’t watch Joe Rogan) but don’t assume it’s not misinformation or comes from a place of bias just because he helped invent the vaccine:

UPDATE: He's also a con-artist grifter:

Wow....just wow.

Props to India.Arie for coming forward and revealing this mess. Joe is disgusting and I really hope Spotify will eventually take him down because this is just ridiculous.

Also he looks awful omg :samanthac:

Why did I not know this until now?!?!:patrizia:

Is there a way to transfer my playlists from Spotify to Apple Music? I think it’s time to cancel my Spotify Premium.

They were one of many funds that invested money in Spotify but Thrive Capital has already cashed out and do not have any input. Kushner never ran it, never had a board seat, nor likely had any personal influence in anything Spotify did.

"I can't say the word..." then goes ahead and says it. The blatant dog whistling to his audience is disgusting.

This man does not deserve to have a platform :fthis:

Yes! I can't think of the site name now but Google or search it on Twitter. A lot of people are reposting the site that can help you 🙂

I used SongShift - it's free and easy to figure out. I was able to transfer all my playlists over in under 15 mins!

His apology was sincere. He acknowledged he is wrong and is taking full responsibility.

Should we have a witch hunt and cancel this dude into oblivion? What more do people want?

Props to her :applause:

He is an all-around gross human, and he and Spotify deserve every bit of scrutiny they're receiving.

If he was sincere, he would have apologized for this behavior and removed the episodes on his own before being called out on it. People have been talking about this behavior for a long time, and I know he knows how he has acted in the past. This was no surprise to him, he's only apologizing because he's being called out.

No need for a witch hunt, all the evidence against him is content he himself has released.

And yes, he should be canceled into oblivion. I generally think people are overzealous with cancel culture, but that doesn't mean we absolve all people of accountability, especially when they are acting in directly harmful ways to large amounts of people.
