Daily 191
I pray that all my fellow humans can get along and understand that even if we're not the same we're worth equally. I pray that no one suffers for simply existing. May we all find the strength and humility in our hearts and souls to treat our brothers and sisters with compassion. Companies such as Disney and Universal, who bring a lot of revenue to the state, haven't spoken about this despite their rainbow capitalism over the past few years. The Disney Parks division have been allies to the LGBT community for years. Get your facts straight before spewing such nonsense. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love. beli8 1,467
I grew up in south Florida but moved in my mid 20s mostly due to population growth/the heat/cost of living. Lately I've been adding more things to the list of reasons I'm also glad I've been out of there for 12 years. This is crazy! I thought it was going to be a bill about anti-bashing when I read the title (although was skeptical), I should have known better. I will say that at least where I lived (Broward county which is above Miami Dade county) things were usually a lot different than the rest of the state. Thankfully at the very south it is very inclusive, and I'm hoping that will continue to be the case even if the rest of the state goes down the drain (but wish the whole state would just get it together). Politico 44
This is terrible and if it becomes law it will undoubtedly be detrimental to LGBTQIA+ kids in Florida. However, Title of the thread is misleading. The bill only passed committee. This is NOT the law is Florida… yet. @Werk you may want to consider editing the title of your thread. besus 132
Here's to all those "concerned parents" when their precious bbs turn out to be flaming gheys And honorable mention to all the Very Moral™ legislators who get arrested for publicly soliciting *** in a men's bathroom this summer. While this bill is disgusting, it feels like just another high-profile identity politics move. DeSantis is gearing up for a presidential run in 2024 (or 2028 if the conservative public still supports Trump in the next election cycle), and he wants a lot of asinine **** to point to that galvanizes the Trumpists and makes him become their new supreme leader. Guest
But where do you even talk about sexuality in school? At least for me in France we never talked about it, we just studied math, literature, geography etc why talk about sexuality? Imagine having a course about periods, I mean it's good in theory but I don't see why it's a necessity, or just do a biology course to talk about sexuality and then a course on gender and society, that'd be good

American students are falling more and more behind their peers in other country in regards to reading and math, yet liberals are trying to hijack education and turn it into some utopia paradise where we need to be teaching about sex, gender, sexual orientation, from as young as kindergarten. Frankly, it's scary seeing what our nation is becoming. I can create a welcoming and wholesome LGBT classroom without a force fed curriculum by including LGBT authors, respecting students' pronouns & preferred names, stepping in and speaking up when I hear other students (and faculty) use anti-LGBT language; among other things. It's not my students business what my sexual orientation is, not that it's hard to guess but that's a different story. The grade school classroom is meant to be an apolitical place and I hate what it's becoming. 20 minutes ago, gypsy Hero said: tbh its quite disgusting to come for someone in your own community Just because we are part of the same community doesn't mean we to think the same.
