beli8 1,386
I loved her in the mid 90s when I was discovering music. My cousin and I were obsessed with Take A Bow (both song and video) and when You'll See came out we also freaked. Then Frozen...omg/speechless. Ray of Light, another genius. American Life, Music, Confessions. Just all consistent perfections. And of course her earlier work (Like A Prayer is one of my favorites...Rain, argh so many good ones). After Confessions I sorta stopped listening to her because I didnt love any of the ones I heard. But since I followed and loved her work for a couple of decades (a majority of it in "real time" as the music was being released which makes it even more special), I can't deny that she will always hold a spot in my music heart. NCgaga 4,279
Madonna is the most culturally impactful and relevant pop female of all time. She has always been ahead of the curb. She stood up for those with AIDS when it was rare for anyone else to. She She brought up conversations of BLM and even got dropped from a Pepsi sponsorship for releasing “Like A Prayer” because of it. She brought Voguing to the forefront from ballroom culture(her dancers in the late 80s and early 90s were predominately from that scene) , when no other pop act was recognizing it as an art form. She has the most extensive and diverse music catalog of any pop act, and she is the number one selling female artist of all time. She has recorded some stellar pop songs and albums. You can like her or dislike her, but you can’t deny what she has brought to the game.
RAMROD 104,194
I like her music until Hard Candy. After that it is not my thing. She haven't been putting out good quality music since. I don't enjoy her Interscope years. And she have become pretty cringy and try hard too as of late with those teeth grillz and other stuffs. Definitely my favourite artist of all time Not a 3 or 4yo bopping to Erotica 3 hours ago, Anderson123 said: Yes, before Gaga there was a Madonna that I'd listen to every day. I grew up listening to Britney, Christina, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Avril, P!nk, etc. so one day my older brother came home from school with a couple of CDs he borrowed from his gay friend who was a pop stan. These CDs were Madonna's Ray of Light, Aqua's Aquarium and Aquarius and that Eiffel 65 one so this europop genre was huge to me and still is. So I listened to Ray of Light and watching the music videos on MTV made me fall in love with her. I started digging my parents' cassette collection and they had Like A Prayer, Erotica and Immaculate Collection in there. Then a couple of years later she released Music and just watching the music video made me love her even more. Years later in 2008 when I first listened to Poker Face and Just Dance, I just knew that I couldn't wait for Gaga to release more music because I KNEW it'd be that good. HookerOnAChurch 6,653
I'm very honest i used to be his biggest fan. I've seen her in concert many times (The Girlie Show (i was 8 and i went with my sister - Drowned World Tour / Re - Invention / Confessions Tour / Sticky&Sweet and more).. I have a huge, huge collection with a lot of rarities but i think she has changed so much as a person she has always been bossy, but as an artist she was a genius. Now i don't like the fact that she doesn't even have an artistic identity anymore. Up until 15 years ago she was the one who dictated the law in the music industry but now it seems she has no more to say and is doing everything to stay relevant. But, yeah, i stan Madonna she made the best pop right after Michael Jackson. Like a Prayer is like a Bible to me, the Bible of Pop music as well as True Blue and many other albums. She's a legend. Gaga had her moment of ego during her peak (she was 25 yo), but she's really got a very down to earth perspective about people around her. She's more empathy these days. Madonna is at another stage of her life and she's still very rude and egocentric for no reason.
