100% agree. There are plenty of studies and science saying a plant-based diet is optimal for human health, and also that animal agriculture is extremely destructive to the earth - highly likely to contribute to a future pandemic/antibiotic resistance.

For the record, I’ve been vaxxdd. But it’s mildly infuriating when people are screaming “trust the science!!” re: covid, and blanking when I say “so are you going to stop/drastically reduce meat/animal intake to do your part for the global good, the global health? Because we gotta trust the science, right?”

If we are penalised for “being selfish” by not taking a vaccine which has questionable efficacy, then why aren’t we penalised for meat/dairy? And why aren’t we trusting the science on that big issue also? Or is it just more convenient to be selective with what science we trust?

If meat was banned, people would be truly shooketh. They would go on about how it’s their choice, it’s their body, they choose what they eat… sorry tho, it’s contributing to a lot of bad stuff so it’s banned now.

I acknowledge there’s a toxic group of people who are antivaxxx, and who are also spewing crazy and unbelievable theories — this isn’t helpful to anyone.
But there’s a large chunk of people who are cautious, hygienic and respectful, who take care of their health and listen to their intuition. And now they’re shunned from society, even though some of them just want to wait for some more long-term studies about the V. And are they really so bad for that? Hell, we now see that the V doesn’t stop you from catching or transmitting it… and remember, not everyone who catches Covid will have to go to the hospital.

It’s really crazy to see all of the anti-vax hate everywhere. The world has become even more surreal in these last two years. I know there will be a ton of people who disagree with my opinion, and that’s OK :flop:  thanks for reading!

Because its not oke to punish someone for their food choices and like the other user said some people may need to eat meat for medical reasons and also im pretty sure that your doing something else  is bad for the invirement so stop shaming people for their diet choices

I'm raising a slight counterpoint to this for an awareness reason. I've lived with vegans and long had a flexitarian diet myself when I was a student (meat is rightfully expensive!). So I fully see the benefits and the alternatives available to meat-free diets.

I have reactive hypoglycemia, a metabolic disorder that causes my blood sugar to spike and then bomb within hours of eating carbs. This puts my health in danger, as sugar spikes obviously cause long-term heart and liver damage, and sugar lows could cause me to pass out or even enter a coma. This is genetic and runs through my family.

My doctor recommends I restrict my carb intake and increase my protein and fat consumption.

Both have a minimal effect on my sugars and keep me healthy. The problem with vegetarian/vegan diets in my case is that nearly all plant-based protein contain moderately high levels of carbohydrates and annoyingly cause me to spike and crash (except tofu, which is great). Grains, root vegetables, beans, bread, rice etc are all problematic.

So most of my meals involve some sort of meat, fish, egg, dairy or animal product with plenty of low-carb vegetables like zucchini.

Ironically, eating meat and animal products has made me (and certain other people) healthier than relying on plant-based alternatives. That being said, I make sure I avoid processed meats as much as possible, and I do think people overeat meat when they don't need to.

So I think that's where vaccines and dietary habits are different because vaccines tend to be blanket solutions whereas diets are highly personalized to a person's biology.

But I totally agree with you on the hypocrisy of it all. I'm 100% for vaccines but shaming anti-vaxxers only adds to their crazy conspiracy theories and pushes them away further.

Fair enough, you gotta do what is right for you and your individual needs!

The problem with woke culture is socitety focuses extremely hard on a handful of trendy social issues to talk about to the point that  especially celebs are put under a microscope to be draged and cancel if they so much as say something about that topic with poorly chosen wording...

Meanwhile that exagerated attention to a select few social issues means other serious or moral issues get virtually no attention at all whats so ever

I agree, woke culture is pretty messed up and focuses on what's "trendy". I talk about a lot of different issues with people in my personal life, offline. I don't have the answers to many of these things but I'm not blinded by "woke culture".

Personally, the topic of animal agriculture and vaccine mandates don't really signify "woke culture", to me at least.

Lol. Yeah, I agree we shouldn't punish people for their food choices. But it's OK to punish people for choosing not to get a "very-new" vaccine? That was the whole point of my post, making an analogy between these two things :smh:

No shaming was going on there, just some creative writing ;) and for sure, I contribute my fair share to capitalism, and travelling, which of course impacts the environment. I am definitely not in the clear when it comes to that!

I actually just caught Omicron a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully it was super mild! So I'm gonna rock with the natural immunity for a while, seeing as the boosters aren't designed for Omicron... yet. I think?
And I'll reevaluate in a couple of months.

Sorry for my comment to you but im just so sick and tired of vegans who shame people for not being vegan and because of that making the whole vegan community look like a bunch of assholes wich is unfair and sad because not all vegans are assholes

HuffsAhoy

Good. Anything that punishes the unvaxxed instead of us vaxed people is a win for me.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.
