To all you people going "Ha! Serves them right, f*cking anti-vaxxers", let me just explain to you what we're going through here in Quebec, which, by the way, has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world.

Our prime minister is doing a terrible, TERRIBLE job at managing the healthcare system. The system is not overburdened with sick unvaxxed people, the problem is that thousands of workers are forced to quarantine because they tested positive, even if they only have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic. Even if they're double or even triple vaxxed. The healthcare is severely short-staffed and ineffective, but the prime minister is not doing anything about it. Instead, he places the blame on unvaxxed people, we've been persecuted for months now, and it's worse than ever. The vaccine passport was implemented 4 months ago, we haven't been able to go to the restaurant, gyms, theatre, etc. Clearly we're not the ones infecting other people. The government and media are painting us as evil people, when all we're doing is stay home. I even work from home, I hardly see anyone. I'm not a threat to anyone. And yet, I'm gonna have to pay a health tax because our f*cking prime minister is too proud to admit he's been doing a sh*t job and he needs a scapegoat to distract people. People are depressed, angry and this place has become unlivable. 

So don't talk about stuff you don't know about. We have the strictest sanitary measures on the continent (vaccine passport, curfew, and now this), and yet things are still out of control. We're living in hell here.

OT tho i feel like almost every government is miserably faiing at something. The nature of how politics works ensures impeding beaureocracy and political games ahead of the interests of the people

 

But i must add... whatever the government has done wrong to add the problem, unvaxxed are adding also

 

U say all u do is stay home yet unvaxxed as a general population are several times more likely to end up in ICU. Thats hard evidence to refute that unvaxxed are adding to the problem regardless of what ever other factors are at play that governments dont take responsibility for

But things were going pretty well before the Omicron wave though. I'm vaccinated, and apart from masks, life was (mostly) normal. The Legault government definitely had shortcomings, but its approach to vaccines was never significantly different than what you see in most places. He's cautious about lifting measures, but that mostly worked to his advantage.

The bigger problem in Quebec is inaction in other areas (teachers not being given N95s, lack of proactivity on rapid tests, lack of proactivity on ventilation, health director being confusing in his messaging sometimes, etc.). The health pass is going to become the standard, not just in Quebec but worldwide. Can't run away from it.

Well as more and more jurisdictions are adding carbon taxes it will riple on to higher carbon intensive foods like meat so ppl already are and will be paying more for meat u just dont see the tax but ur paying for it

But honestly @TimisaMonster this is hardly a new concept. Many jurisdictions (including mine) tax the sh*t out of tabacco and alcohol due to health impacts

 

they dont take away ur freedom to drink or smoke u technically still can. But that freedom comes with a price tag since ur choices are potentially costly to society

This is horrible, they can’t start forcing everyone to get the vaccine. I got my booster shot yesterday and I feel awful, I almost passed out. Some people can’t take the vaccine due to medications and other health problems.

Exactly my thoughts. I'm done with ignorant people who can't see that they aren't the special ones who are going to die from a vaccine when BILLIONS other people didn't.
