No not these shtty half-measure lockdowns. But my country is starting to talk about 4th dose boosters when in reality the wealthy nations need to focus hardcore on making vaccines available to less developed nations where vaccination rates are low and thus risk of variants are high.

Focus on providing GOOD masks to everyone. My country has had mask mandates pretty much the whole time, but no guidance about what masks to use (nobody should be wearing a cloth mask in 2022), and they have never, in two years provided even one mask to citizens. So poor and vulnerable people who can't afford to source a decent quality mask are at a disadvantage, and this affects everyone in the long run. Just now are they talking about providing N95s to teachers. 

Don't get me started on testing... my city was running a pilot program last year distributing boxes of 25 rapid tests to anyone who wanted them. It was going so well. Then the provincial government realized community groups were using these tests on school children and said basically "hey, schools are our mandate, and we don't authorize this!!" and shut down the whole program. Instead of realizing, hey there is a real demand and willingness to rapid test, lets ramp this up! Then just a few months later they are scrambling to distribute rapid tests in the face of omicron and the collapse of the government-run PCR testing capabilities. 

There is SO MUCH MORE governments could be doing to protect us, but they allow the already at-risk to become MORE at risk, and then say "well, only the at-risk will suffer", like, ma'am

I had omicron here in australia. it felt like something between a cold and the flu, but 100x more contagious. Everyone I know is getting it now. It is just inevitable.

I can't imagine spending the rest of my life like this... with Covid. I miss the old life so much... all this makes me so sad I can't even express it. And nobody can tell when things will get " more normal" again...probably never. All this quarantining, worrying and not going out much has had a huge impact on my mental health. It's like I can't take it anymore. I cannot hear this **** on the news anymore. I can't stand talking about it anymore.

 

I'm literally not doing anything because of my parents who are older and I don't want to infect them, cuz we live together. I worry about them every day that it makes me sick. I wouldn't even care much if I got Covid and died from it since my life is miserable anyway, but I don't wanna pass this virus onto my family or other people. I also feel so sorry for my parents cuz they wanted to travel but now it's like almost impossible.

Everybody is over it and aren't going to keep following it, and frankly the world's supply chains and economy can't withstand lockdown after lockdown.

At some point we're going to have to just let people decide for themselves and if they choose to not get vaccinated that's on them, they can risk their lives.

The rest of us doing our part and what we should shouldn't have to keep putting our lives on hold though due to the selfish assholes out there.

While vaccination definitely helps the severity of symptoms, people who are fully vaccinated with boosters as well are still getting sick and dying, yes a significantly lower rate but still. Others are having long term health effects from covid infection. Vaccination isn’t going to save us if the virus continues to mutate, and we’re constantly working retroactively to promote immunity. 
 

while I get what you’re saying about the effects of a lockdown, it’s also protecting the lives and health of an entire population. I’m a nurse, and now, more than ever I’m at risk of getting covid from work. At least when we were in lockdown we had better control of the whole healthcare paradigm because covid infections weren’t so high. Now we’re all struggling, putting our lives at risk more than ever, and dealing with so much burnout that a huge percentage of nurses are completely leaving healthcare, which potentiates the problem. It’s all a mess right now, but truly, a lockdown, or at least tighter restrictions right now would save us from a complete collapse of our healthcare system

Have you and your family been vaccinated? If so there's no need to worry as much as you are, no more than them getting a bad flu, being worried is going to affect your health and mental health more negatively.

Yes, we’re all double vaxxed & boosted. I’m still scared cuz my dad is 70, overweight & has heart problems. 
My mental health is ****ed up anyway. I don’t even have mental health; I only have mental illness at this point.

This is what its like everyday for people who have a disability. The disregard for long term health effects on the minority is abhorent and should be acknowledged like this. Ableism is real.
