I want to know how many people are being hospitalised and dying? If the majority are just getting mild symptoms it means the vaccines are working right? It's like these threads and headlines in the news are just scaremongering the public.

Omg what the fuuuuuuuuck and we're still operating like normal?

Today, my coworker just went home feeling sick and my director just told us he's now tested positive for COVID. Now I have to get tested tomorrow and work from home

So in a couple days it'll be over 2 or 3 million a day? :wtfga:

The US is at the highest number of hospitalizations.

Although Omicron is seemingly mild, it is straining the healthcare system.

The death rate is incredibly low percentage wise though. Apart from overwhelming the health care system, this is likely a good sign

So many people I work with in both my jobs are out sick and higher ups only seem to care about getting through all the curriculum and making sales goals. :partysick:

My weekend retail job was practically begging me to pick up shifts after school this week because all the weekday workers are out sick. :air:

People are out sick, but they are sick with mild cold symptoms. No one is really having severe symptoms anymore. Omicron bringing in numbers, but she has little substance.

I'm really afraid of going out these days, quite literally. If this continues, it'll take like one month for the entire population to be infected with Omicron at this point.

Yeah a lot of people I know have/had it or their jobs are highly impacted because people are out sick.

What we NEED to remember though is we knew this would happen. Scientists told us that vaccinated people still have the possibility of getting COVID, but their symptoms would be a lot less severe.

I've come to terms with it. At this point, most people in the world will get it at some point and will have mild symptoms and then life will go on. The UNvaccinated are the ones dying and in hospitals.

Over 120k hospitalizations per day, 20k people in ICU (very similar to last winter), deaths are on the rise with 1,7k per day (up from 1,2k deaths the previous weeks, still lower then daily 3,2k death average last winter).

The vaccines are definitely working, deaths being almost half than last winter with the same number of cases proves that. The problem here is really the  amount of unvaxxed people is still large enough to be clogging up capacities of hospitals, causing a general shortage and declining quality of overall general health services (which then in turn also causes Covid to be more deadly because mild cases have to go completely untreated, become more severe and then aren't mild anymore).
