Is this only for drama actress? We have to wait til SAGs i feel like this is going to be like that time when Natalie Portman, Isabelle Huppert and Emma Stone won in different awards Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙

GG may be controversial, but a win still helps...add in the CCA nomination, the AACTA nomination, and that it is an Academy friendly film. I also think it's interesting Rachel won over bigger names (considering the Academy are star f*ckers) and Alana. Granted, Rachel has the Spielberg factor but Alana has PTA and the media is basically in love with her right now. I really think Alana basically has no shot at further nods tbh... Went to see Licorice Pizza tonight and I literally didn't expect to enjoy Alana so much, she was great. I hope she finds her place in future races. I lurked in the gold derby forum yesterday and they all swore Kidman was out and Jessica Chastain was the new front runner to challenge Kristen. Goes to show nobody can predict this. I really dislike how even regular twitter has like turned into some sort of 'stan' war. I have a problem with anyone who sweeps critics awards. I tend to be against them, and expect different winners at the major awards.
Magic Mike 2,739
Kristen was amazing in her character. To me it doesn’t matter if it’s more or less close to Diana. It’s all about her body language in the screen and its psychological tension. Never have I seen such depth in a character played by Stewart

Well, since the race is being so tight this year, maybe each award will go to a different girl... I wouldn't rule anybody out for the Oscars at this point. I just wish they gave it to someone who would truly benefit from it. And not someone who had already won 4 times

It didn't seem like a particularly difficult role imo and like it relied more on her charm. TBH, I think the same of Zegler, but she isn't sweeping critics circles like Alana. I really though the critics circles would be handing out awards to Kristen, Olivia Colman, Renate Reinsve, Penelope, etc. more.

I agree, these roles relied mostly on charm, but I guess it's basically a sign of appreciation for these first-time actresses in motion pictures. I also don't think a role has to be obviously challenging for a performance to be great.

True... It's like there wasn't any competition and they chose to give it to the usual suspect. But the thing is, there was strong competition this year. Not even the film enthusiasts. It's a very tight year. From what I understand, internationally a lot of critics/AMPAS voters/BAFTA voters did not like Tammy Faye at all so I think that will ultimately hurt Chastain...even if she's campaigning like crazy. They definitely have a habit of awarding certain types of roles (the big, showy campy role is one) so I could see her taking Gaga's place, though. Feinberg tends to be the most accurate, and he took Gaga, Chastain, and Haim out. His current line up Is Kidman/Stewart/Cruz/Zegler/Colman. Lost Daughter is not an Academy friendly film at all, though, even less so than Spencer. And it's hard to for me to see Zegler getting in over Jessica or Gaga, but she does have the Spielberg factor and the Academy does like young, charming actresses. As you said, it could be anyone this year. I'm not looking forward to film twiter/stan twitter attacking Gaga if she misses out, though, and acting like she's terrible even though she's received a ton of other nominations (and then the subsequent reactions by monsters). Not to mention the Raspberries just pick random big names, so I wouldn't be shocked if they picked Gaga...which will just amplify the hate train if she gets snubbed. I might just stay off twitter that day lol if she misses out on a nomination.
