Dojo 19,823
Mexico already stopped giving their iconic 180 days, no question asked visa. The tourism influx in Mexico grew 800% since 2019 and their biggest airports, Mexico City and Cancun are not enough anymore for the demand They just finish a second airport south from Mexico City and a new one in the Tulum area is currently being build to help ease the demand for the Cancun airport. More and more people are looking for permanent residence or pretty much just overstaying their visas due to lack of consequences. Not only beach towns but other cities like Queretaro, Guanajuato, Puebla are getting more and more gentrified by expats. Also, the immigration from southamericans looking to reach the border with USA isn't helping either. So, from now on everytime tourist arrive in Mexico they will only be granted visa for the time of their stay showing their flight back tickets. Luc 4,776
I wanted to go in February  but the real reason they have this influx is not their visas, but their lack of covid-related travel restrictions. Would it not make much more sense to limit passengers based on covid than to limit tourism visas?
