Ronk 14,762
I'm not believing she won't get the nom unless I see it happen. I live outside the space time continuum.

I wouldn't be enthusiastic to vote for it either. The way some of you write off Gaga's nom because HOG wasn't "well received" and yet fully accept Jessica Chastain and Nicole Kidman being nominated for films that have nearly IDENTICAL critic scores and HOG was reviewed nearly twice as many times as Tammy Faye! Make it make sense!
gagawaffles 165
Genuine question do people get acting noms if the movie itself isn’t good? I was bored to tears but Gaga was great
streamstarcrossed 409
I’m not surprised tbh. From the time I saw HOG I just couldn’t imagine gaga getting a nom. I didn’t get the feeling the movie would get any noms actually. It was okay, but it seemed overhyped to me. There wasn’t anything outstanding about Gaga’s acting, and I got the vibe that critics were fawning over her mainly because she’s a pop star playing a lead role - among an amazing cast. It missed the mark and overall didn't seem oscar-worthy. Having seen the other contenders, house of Gucci winning any of the major awards just never seemed realistic to me. MOT 3,019
I thought Gaga was excellent in HoG (despite the handicap of having to put on that accent). It seemed like about 70% to 80% of the professional reviewers thought so too. I don't know who's going to be nominated. I'll be surprised if Gaga isn't. fishinmyhair 524
I’d obviously be sad if Jessica Chastain got it over Gaga but OMG did you see her in the eyes of Tammy fae?? She was phenomenal

I liked the movie and she played her role well but she's not an Oscar-worthy actress in any way. The only reason she would get a nomination is because she is Lady Gaga. Neither is Kristen. I like Kristen as a person and some of her movies so I'm not trying to **** on her but she is a mediocre actress and all she was doing in Spencer is impersonating Diana, nothing more. Neither the movie nor her performance are anywhere near Oscar-worthy. The Oscars (and all the other award shows) are not based on merit anymore. It's so pathetic. do you know how the oscars work? the academy votes on who they thought was the best. it’s not pretending to be merit based.
MOT 3,019
Does anyone know when are the nominations announced ? And how many noms are there ? I know it's usually around five, but is it fixed at a number or can it vary from year to year ?
Dr Fudge 8,635
I know I’m the crazy person here….but part of me doesn’t want Gaga to get an Oscar for acting quite yet. I love the idea of her working harder and harder to achieve it over the years and not just landing in her lap after her second movie. She’s always been the underdog that rises above. This will be no different! Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.
pedrohemg 7,802
They've removed her because of this article https://variety.com/lists/sag-awards-nomination-predictions-lady-gaga/. This is very odd. Did someone pay them to write this? If you read it, you see it doesn't make any since. I can assure you Gaga is in the top #3 for a SAG nomination. This is a comment from a voting member at SAG. Not a critic, but someone who's actually choosing who'll be nominated at SAG, and maybe he/she votes at the Oscars too: I left Spencer after 20 minutes just like so many people at my screening. It’s so bad and Kristen was not able to hold me in my seat the way Natalie did as Jackie Kennedy. Also there’s too much Diana these days. Lady Gaga was a powerhouse in Gucci and you realised that because no one else in the film came close to 20% of what she did there.

Juniper 972
Legit thinking both THR and Variety just doing it for the clicks. No one’s gonna look if they post the same predictions every week. Anyway it will be more satisfying if Gaga comes creeping up from behind while everyone focuses on Kristen. Getting nominated is a win. Remember it’s only Gaga’s second movie and she’s getting major praise.
