US closer to civil war than we think, study says

As someone who has worked in political media, let me tell you honestly: the stories they make are meant to scare you. That’s how they keep relevant. Do yourself a favor and stop watching this crap. Yes the US is unstable but the claims that a civil war is imminent is totally being used by the media to freak out easy believers. Fearmongering makes $. Fearmongering wins election. It’s manipulation

I really can’t picture this stuff lol like who would be fighting who? The coasts/big cities are blue, are the republicans gonna drive over state to fight? :toofunny:

If anything there’d only be fights in like Florida and Texas no?

The problem with this is that as much as our politics are "Red State" and "Blue State" the actual breakdowns of people are all over. There are a ton of Republicans in California, a ton of Democrats in Texas. Without regional support systems, it all kinda falls apart.

So what stocks should I buy and be rich after?

Someone already mentioned weapons, but it’s true. Consider buying stocks of weapons manufacturers if you want to become unethically rich :toofunny:

That, or technology companies. Preferably some with ties to the military and weapon industry. Or, perhaps something in human health.

conservative podcasts use this as scare tactics for conservatives

well, maybe it doesn't scare them. it just angers them more, making them more willing to attack. it's depressing.

That's not that surprising. Every empire ends with it consuming itself by corruption and civil war. There was a time the USA was the most influential empire since Rome, so it's just a matter of time for it to have the same end. I'm more afraid about how a world dominated by China will look like because I think it will be a more dangerous world. Europe will also be in chaos if the USA collapses.

It's amazing to actually see headlines and reports like this while living in the country where people face arrests for peaceful demonstrations alone. I mean, I can't wrap my mind around this threat, like, how can the US be close to civil war when the supreme judges appointed by  a certain president have no problem with showing a big middle finger to him when issuing their court decision, when no party has the 60/100 senators, when people can observe the vote counting, etc. From the outside world, it seems like the US political system can digest whatever crisis that might happen, be it the mortgage disaster or the capitol riots, and it seems like your political system serves as a stabilizer rather than a catalyst for civil war.

Economy

With how black and white & one sided politics are especially in the US im not surprised in the slightest

Add internet with channels and pannels that disect issues with ONLY the point of view its audience members already share to begin...

And ppls abilities to see to see a big picture looking at many pros and cons and multitude of factors for each individual issue is at an all time low
