no, i'm talking about the song too, i find brilliant how she combined a ever present folk harp with telephone sampling a la kraftwerk and all the electronic production, it's like the contrast of the manufactured and the genuine of the pop sensibilities she had in her art. the video looks just the way the song sounds.

I actually do love Telephone. I just knew Gwen would get crushed with this poll and I love WYWF more, so I am making sure she gets her representation.

Telephone. The harmonies on such a commercial song and the audacity to include so many stutter hooks blows my mind.

Wywf is good, but its about writers block and doesn't really have as many different levels.

I think WYWF is relatable to anyone who is nervous to take a leap forward and is battling their inner saboteur. I love the back and forth like she’s talking to herself in the verses, because it’s a great representation of negative self talk and standing up to that. It’s about leaning into the fear and knowing the scary things are often what will lead you most to grow. IMO WYWF has a lot more depth than Telephone as a song.

well, to be honest i've heard that concept of stepping out of your confort zone and taking a leap a lot of times... telephone only has little depth if you evaluate the song on the surface. In reality the song itself crushes a lot of tropes in pop culture relating telephone calls, technology and women, this is the first song i've seen women in a pop song taking control over the relationships, and not being the passive waiter at home waiting for calls, but the one's that are avoiding it and the one's that are out there having fun a drinking, complete liberated women having fun, on the top of my head the songs that fall into this trope are, for example "call me when you're sober" by evanescence or most recently "new rules" by dua lipa, and there's a lot more, but not telephone.

Also, it is a metaphor for a couple things, first suffocation monster when you can't enjoy your life because you're so concerned about working and paying your bills and you're just collapsing and don't wanna ear anymore, and then the innundation of publicity and capitalism and unreal standards and how people want to sell you unhealthy things, scams, fast food, addictions and you just want it to stop

I think you’re doing the utmost to justify that the song is lyrically deep when it isn’t. It’s a party song and that’s it.

hahaha no, i'm not, i'm not overanalizing or something, i'm just a fan, this is stuff that gaga herself has said numerous times, for example in her vogue interview recently, and also, if you listen to the song acoustically, you also get the sensibilities behind it, she sang it in honour of alexander mcqueen and his suicide:
