Sarah on creating young Patrizia's makeup

 I think that's a new BTS photo of Gaga on the far left! 

When I first found out that @ladygaga was going to play Patrizia Reggiani in @houseofguccimovie, I immediately began to research anything I could find about her. I wanted to have a visual before I read the script.
It was the height of covid, and @fredericaspiras and I spent 6-8 hours a day building a photographic directory of our character build. We assigned a reference to every scene in the film to get us ready to leave for Italy. We delivered our 400 page photographic directory to Ridley and the hair/makeup team to show how we designed her character throughout the film.

While preparing for this transformation we had to keep two crucial things in mind- the first, that it was a period piece spanning three decades (70’s, 80’s, & 90’s) and the second - that I would have to follow Patrizia’s journey from a documentary perspective. Patrizia Reggiani is a real woman so I needed to be sure that she looked like one. 

While researching Patrizia, Frederic and I noticed there is no photographic evidence of the real Patrizia prior to her wedding. This created an opportunity to create her youth. When compiling our references, Frederic found that Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida was the most famous in Italy at this time, so we agreed to use her as our inspiration. I loved her subtle double winged liner, that was drawn straight out to elongate the eye and decided this would be a signature for young Patrizia.

Creating Patrizia with Gaga and Frederic was an honor of a lifetime, and my favorite part about being a makeup artist. #HouseOfGucci #LadyGaga #PatriziaReggiani #1970’s #makeup

Sarah and Freddie are actually great at their job. I saw plenty of non Gaga stans praise the hair and makeup on twitter while discussing the movie. They totally deserve all the nominations they are getting

Absolutely! I will always stand by Sarah as a great makeup artist especially. She's elevated Gaga's look over the years and is so versatile in her work.

When will “fans” stop bashing Sarah already. It’s ridiculous. 
 

I love that dedication to her job. She looked so youthful in the beginning and at the trial she looked like she went through hell and back, which she did.
