Worst and Best Gaga Moment

Tell us little tricksters, in your opinion what were the worst and best moments of Gaga’s career so far?
 

Best: Winning the old good boy Oscar
Worst: The Epione Era

As a stan: Best was when I became a fan in late 2013, getting to experience all of 2014 with so many candids, music, and performances. Worst was in 2019, things were just boring but I understand she was going through tough times.

Worst: ARTPOP era (truly a horrible time to be a fan seeing how she was treated)

Worst: Less communication with fans (I understand it, respect it, but still miss it)

I actually felt like ARTPOP was such an exciting time to be a fan. The fact she was kinda "hated" by the GP (I mean the media made that up mostly but it felt like it at the time) made being a LM feel more like a niche thing, a community. Artistically she was giving 110%, serving soooo many looks and performances with so much variety stylistically/conceptually, every day was a total surprise. And mostly, it was so exciting to think what she was going to do next. Because she could either try to regain her popularity or just go totally wild, nobody knew.

Granted, I'm probably viewing it through rose coloured glasses because I was young and it was my first era 'stanning' anyone. But regardless, there was a lot of really great content that era.

I agree. I also think there’s a huge difference between 2013’s ARTPOP era and 2014’s. By the time she lost her team at the end of 2013 you can really see she fought to give ARTPOP the proper era with GUY, Roseland, etc. She put her all into it.

For me the worst has to be the whole of 2016-2020. In hindsight it's clear she was struggling with her mental health all that time, but it was just depressing to see her become such a shell of the star she used to be. Always playing it so safe, no confidence or pride in herself or her work, constantly gushing over how much she needed Mark Ronson/Bradley Cooper/Bloodpop and how she was nothing without them. All the boldness, humour and confidence that made her fun to follow just seemed to have been drained out of her. It was sad.

But this Gucci era she seems to have been totally revived, having fun, enjoying her art both past and present, taking full credit for all the work she put in and just basking in her well-earned success. It's so great to see.

Hmmmm, there were DEFINITELY iconic truest to Gaga moments in there, so many, the Superbowl for one! So many interviews, videos / shoots, appearences, moments, cameos & an actual movie that were really her top work and not her being 'Sad and playing it safe'. Also, lets not misquote Gaga, she has always had pride in herself and gave us so much humour & inspiration in this time, there was just A LOT of sadness for her also, but shes human, and does something every day that none of us can even begin to imagine.  I think you've focused too much on the negative parts of those 4 years tbh...But each to their own!

The best moment for me was the VMA Paparazzi performance. It was the first performance, for me, where I was completely enchanted by her. I was obsessed with everything in the performance, and it made me the fan I am today.

 

The worst, and I’m going to sound horrible, but bear with me, is when I felt she started becoming a human and focusing on her mental health. Up until ARTPOP, she was alien-like, pop star machine, that lived, breathed, and became her art. I was SO fascinated by the way she dove in and never went out of character.

In saying that, I am SO happy she is looking after herself, but as a selfish fan, it was hard to see her completely rip off the curtain and be so vulnerable and so human.

I am EXTREMELY happy to hear tho, in some recent Gucci interviews, that she still has a passion for becoming her art, and is trying to find ways to get lost in art, but still be able to turn it off in her private life. I feel like once she figures that out, she really is going to feel more comfortable as a performer/artist again, and not feel the constant tug of war of either being a sane human being with loved ones, or a damaged artists who would give everything up for art.  Switching between those two personas would be the epitome of Lady Gaga.
