something that disgusts me with p*rn is how some types are made for specific audiences. lesbian p*rn is so horrible and it just seems like it isn't made for lesbians but for heterosexual men. like christ, what makes you think a lesbian would make heterosexual gestures.

It's good that she's spreading awareness on this, considering how it's mostly known as a male thing. p*rn addiction can affect anyone.

I'm not saying she's wrong (she makes a great point) but damn if this isn't just another example of how Gen Z is getting more conservative. Not in a political sense but socially, I think as a result of the dilution and misuse of "woke-ness".

The point of being "woke" was originally to point out injustices, especially racism. Unfortunately it's become more of a competition for who can out-woke each other and win the most internet points.

For example, the advent of cancel culture - which can be a good thing when used correctly -  has been warped and squandered by these young kids demanding apologies from every public figure that they perceive has done the slightest thing to offend them, or reaching to find a reason to cancel someone, seemingly for sport.

Or the endless lambasting of pride parades every June. The amount of Gen Zers I saw crying on Twitter about pride parades this past year was nauseating. They think they are being ultra-woke but really they're just aligning themselves with conservatives, feeding into the narrative that gays are corrupting deviants - the exact opposite of the intention of pride.

I fear the woke-ness is doubling back and the kids are re-discovering conservative ideologies without realizing it. Like the snake eating its own tail.

Glad she's being so open and vulnerable regarding this. I discovered p**n VERY young, maybe 9. It definitely messed up my expectations in relationships and in s*x. Now I'm in my 30s trying to unravel all that :awkney:

I agree, i think in general **** has never been enticing to me because it's about humans becoming objects, and it's super creepy. unless there are other types of **** but especially if u categorize it by people's race, features, or other things, it becomes like a fetish thing and an object, which is super super gross

Good on her for talking about her relationship to it, but I feel like it depends on the person…

As a young woman who was exposed to it at a young age, (like 10) I have a good relationship with it. I watch it every now and then, and agree that I was exposed to it too early, however I have a very healthy relationship with it.

The over produced stuff, I agree, is so degrading to women. The stuff that ordinary people post themselves, unless it’s part of their k*nk/f*tish, it isn’t usually degrading at all.

I think Billie has a stronger head on her shoulders and doesn't say things just to be "woke". As a female what she is saying is absolutely right.

Not saying she's wrong, as it is true for her and so many other people.

But there's many types of p*rn and there's many ways people interact with it. Classifying it all as the same "degrading" thing is just not fair or true, and can lead to problems and unseen dangers on its own.

People will have trouble in relationships with or without p*rn, and they will have trouble discovering sexuality with or without p*rn. The key is having the option to choose your own way, and what you want to take from it, which in a way she kinda couldn't since she got addicted.

Wishing it didn't exist is not a solution.

You hit the nail on the head. It's terrifying seeing how closed minded Gen Z is becoming. Their attempts to question and undo so much of the groundbreaking progress that's been made by previous generations is unsettling. Our community is in grave danger with these people.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

I've been battling this myself for a while and I wonder who I'd be today if not for the stuff I saw at such a young age. Its nice to see someone as big as Billie bring this up.

**** itself is not a problem. That suggests sex work js a problem too. The issue is the straight male oriented **** INDUSTRY. If it were a more equitable space with more room for female and queer creators, **** would not be as problematic as most of it is today.

P0rn can be very damaging to a person's self esteem.

It's the portrayal of impossible fantasies, risky behaviour and unsafe sexual practices that ends up playing with the psyche of a human being.

**** is like food. There's nutritious food and junk food. It's the ability to distinguish the one from the other and ration the consumption.
