moonsago 7,285
The time has come for the kings of kpop to release their second full english album titled ‘The Dreaming’. With that they also released the first official single from the project called ‘You Problem’, following the pre-release ‘One Day’ earlier this fall. 1st Official Single: Pre-release single: I just finished listening to the album and it is amazing. I encourage everyone, kpop fan or not, to please give it a try. If poor english is a turn off when it comes to korean artists releasing english songs, fear not, their english is impeccable. They approached the sound in such an effortless way creating wonderful examples of mainstream american pop that could easily cross over anywhere in the western market. The whole atmosphere and mood of the project is extremely coherent even though there are multiple genres at play. I enjoyed this album even more than the first one right from the get go, which says a lot because ‘All About Luv’ ( 1st full english album ) was amazing as well. Monsta X is a LEGENDARY kpop group, in my opinion the most influential kpop group ( when it comes to sound and music ) of the third wave of kpop, their style and musical identity being very much present in what is going on now with the forth generation of male groups. The reason why I enjoy their english releases more than any other groups that have crossed over is because they don’t fall into cliches that make the songs feel immature and shallow. But this is just my personal opinion though, not a valid criticism of these other groups ( which I love as well in general ). The only real criticism I have for this album is the amount of songs that are barely ( and I mean BARELY ) over 2 minutes... like come on man, can this sh*t die down in general? ... but other than that ( something you get used to later ), this album is impeccable to me ( for the basic, mainstream american pop sound, which there is NOTHING wrong with ). It is a great example of how you do something very enjoyable and fresh sounding without trying to hard to pick the genre apart. I hope at least some of you will give the album or at least singles a try! Please leave your thoughts bellow, thank you!
dzox 552
I've been a kpop stan for quite a while now and what i notice is that monsta x was one of the biggest acts from the 3rd gen kpop but they kinda fell off my radar these days. I never really got into their korean music (i feel like they're the one who started the noise music trend on boygroups) but i did listen to their first full english album and that was amazing. I think i'll give this one a chance

I think i'll give this one a chance They absolutely did start the trend with the ‘noise’ kind of music and their rap line has also influenced the 4th generation rappers with their aggressive, powerful, intimidating approach. Even as a fan of them, as much as I appreciate the genius of the members ( because they also self produce and have since the beginning making me credit some of them for this as well not just their company ), I admit I can’t listen to all of their earlier stuff either. So I understand what you mean. You can really tell the experimental nature of it, however with time they have really sophisticated their sound and have managed to figure out the perfect balance. I suggest if you care to listen to their last 3 comebacks, starting with Love Killa, Gambler and Rush Hour, the last 2 being PERFECT examples of how elevated their sound is today and how incredible the members are with songwritting and producing, as Joohoney is the one to produce the last 2 ( the first time he was allowed to produce the title tracks ). They are at their peak today I would say in terms of identity which is funny because it all happened with a departed member and while the group composition is changing with the start of their military enlistments. The hunger for creation and evolution is real with them and that’s what I love the most about these guys. They feel genuine and passionate about art. Not to mention how hot and grown their stuff is nowadays... not just the music but them too... yes, I like the music AND the bling ok?
Dadru 2,379
Although they are not my bias group (lol guess who is ) I'm gonna listen to it later today. They easily make the best english songs in k-pop. I have All About Luv on vinyl, hoping they will eventually also release a vinyl version of this one.
