ceminay 1,122
She’s not wrong. Natural immunity is strong. There are studies showing it’s strong and sometimes more long lasting than most vaccines. Many countries will accept prior Covid infection instead of vaccination for their vaccine passports, except the US. Unfortunately, the US refuses to acknowledge basic science that most scientists and doctors will agree upon. Suggesting that having had the virus can make you immune is nothing controversial, having had Measles and other viruses are already exceptions to existing immunization requirements. The mRNA vaccines target the spike protein, while natural infected is the whole virus. Even the CDC has admitted they have not documented one case of a person with natural immunity transmitting the virus to someone else, but they do say those who are vaccinated can transmit. The Finnish ministry of health officially says "Having had the coronavirus disease protects most of those infected against the virus for at least 6 months... there is not great hurry to get a vaccination." Turkey does not allow you to get vaccinated three months after you had the virus. Unfortunately, both Republicans and Democrats have done their best to make this virus political. Now since Democrats are in charge, they’re going along with this pandemic culture war. When there is a vaccine mandate for businesses, it’s important to look at the science and make policies according to it. There are many people who had Covid, but refuse to get vaccinated, and will be fired from their jobs of they refuse to do so. I personally would still get vaccinated, but whether you agree or not, a decision like that isn’t based in science, and it damages trust in Science and public health. Obviously this doesn’t mean you should willingly get infected, but what she said was true. I’m saying this as someone who would never vote for a Republican in my life. edit: spelling

As much as it pains me to say, I agree... And I sometimes feel like democracy isn't necessarily the best system because people literally don't know what's good for them or in the best interest of the country and its future. It's really sad.
