The only people getting screwed are those who continue to live their lives locked away in fear of the virus. We have proven methods that prevent serious illness of covid-19: mask wearing and vaccines. Stay bitter that the rest of us are over covid. Someone shared in another thread that the rate of transmission is way slower for this variant than Delta. I think in some cases, it was only discovered to be this strain after like 2 weeks. Do NOT let the media hype you into fear. We are in a much better position to control COVID-19 than we were even just a few months ago. Get vaxxed, mask up, stay hygenic, and if you're sick, stay home and away from crowds.

I literally heard the opposite and that its crowding out Delta in South Africa cuz its more transmissible

 

 

Edit: honestly media and ppl on internet quickly spread different versions and opposing stuff very quickly. Im gonna wait for more data to get sorted out

It's selfishness, Some people would rather see others die than having to act responsible during a hard time or pass that personal responsibility (That like it or not we all have during a pandemic) off onto some government conspiracy so they can wash their hands of any blame. The shock of covid has sadly worn off for a lot of people.

 

Yes the pandemic sucks but the only way out of this is playing by the rules, meaning get your vaccines, your boosters and abiding by lockdowns when their needed. Otherwise what's the alternative? Just let the virus kill whoever and have healthcare systems collapse, sounds greeeeeat

Unless you're an island nation, lockdowns are useless at controlling a virus. Nice try though. The real weapon to combat the virus is through vaccinations, wearing masks, and practicing proper hyenine.

I understand where you're coming from because I agree with a lot of your points. Mask wearing and vaccines are the way 100%. But COVID isn't over. Like at all. The more COVID mutates, the more it will evade vaccines. This is hopefully a short-term issue with new updated formulas but it puts every age group and health status at risk of serious health complications or death. 

I think we should live our lives, but everyone has responsibility to slow the spread of COVID. 

I would also like to point out how your viewpoint is somewhat ableist. "The rest of us are over with COVID". In reality, only people who are both young and completely healthy (and vaccinated) are relatively safe. Everyone else is still living in a nightmare.

That's just not true. Lockdowns are very effective in controlling outbreaks of a virus, How effective depends on how it is enforced and how that population responds.

Lockdowns aren't put in place to eradicate covid but to control outbreaks and bring down numbers which they do.
