renly0910 413 Posted November 22, 2021 Share Posted November 22, 2021 After having HUGE hits like Believer, Thunder, Whatever It Takes, they underperformed with Origins, then Mercury Act 1 felt like a non-event (debuted at #9) despite having one of their best records "Wrecked". Bradley 58,652 Posted November 22, 2021 Share Posted November 22, 2021 I adore Imagine Dragons and Dan Reynolds with all my heart, I think Dan is one of the most incredible human beings in the industry, but if I'm being honest, sonically they don't evolve as much as their peers do. Their lyricism is also borderline cliche. They have good intentions most of the time but they don't really translate into poetic genius. Their songs are bops but only being bops don't make it nowadays. You gotta have a really solid identity that sets you apart from your peers. It's also why Maroon 5 is flopping. They make radio-friendly music that ends up not being played by the radio because they're not distinguished from other kinds of sounds at all. I think they slowed down with trying to be big and more focused on giving quality content.
