So I imagine many of the US monsters jumped at the opportunity to see House of Gucci a week early! So far it’s so good! It is definitely more of a comedy than a drama. Gaga’s fashion is literally next level and her acting is spot on (the method acting shows and shines through)! And her accent is literally sooo good! Here’s a ranking of their accents (other than Gaga and Jared they’re all pretty bad :reductive:)

Accents:
Jared Leto
Gaga
Jack Huston
Al Pacino
Salma Hayek
Adam Driver
Jeremy Irons

It was so good. When Gaga cried I really felt it. Like, painful to watch and hear because I really love her. Just an excellent movie, seeing it twice more next week.

I just watched it as well

Definitely met my expectations, although I think it’s going to get mixed reception by both critics and general audience. Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but I loved every minute of it.

is our girl winning best actress?

She’ll definitely be nominated, but I’m not sure about winning. I get the impression that the academy usually prefers more nuanced performances, and Gaga’s definitely in-your-face/over the top at times. I think she has a chance though, it might just be a tough mountain to climb.

Just got back home from a screening and it is definitely a great film. I see a nomination for Leto and Gaga (maybe even Driver?). Costume and makeup nominations are a definite. Some of the accents get wonky; there were about 2 lines where Irons just completely forgot he was Italian :ladyhaha: As for the film as a whole, I can see the editing and length preventing any nods, but I was obsessed the whole time.

All in all, our gal did us proud. She's a movie star tried and true 💜

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

LOVED IT.

My theater was filled with mostly gays and when Gaga was on, we were engaged! When she wasn't on screen... crickets. Nobody laughed at Leto (besides me.) Like all these moments I kept thinking "oh the audience is gonna find him so funny" and it was just complete silence. It was so awkward.

I thought everyone did great though and really enjoyed it. Exceeded my expectations!

Just saw it at Baltimore, MD.

I think I still prefer ASIB but her acting is good for sure...

A lot of straight/older couples in my theater though

EGOT2027

For those that have seen it: why do you think the reviews are SO polarized? I’m starting to panic that the glowing reviews early on were just critics afraid of Gaga stans and that this is actually going to be panned. I mean one minute it’s amazing, the next it’s stuff like this from people who were looking forward to the movie:

AHHHH I just need to see our RT score already. I’ve never seen critics (and early audiences) give such polar opposite feedback with 0 in between

Out of 100 reviews, there are like 10 bad ones at max. Let’s not amplify the negative ones lol
