How you feel about watching old movies in cinema?

In the Nethelands where I live they are bringing the first Harry Potter movie back in theater's', for it's 20th aniversary.

I'm 24, I only saw the last three movies in cinema. Now I can't decide if I wanna go.

I'm very indecisive with these kind of things. I'm also very sentimental.

A part of me is like; it would be so nostalgic to see a movie that is so special to me on the big screen. Also why is it such a big deal? I've seen it countless times already. And who knows when they bring it back another time. Maybe I regret it if I don't do it.

Another part me is like: Maybe it will change the sentiment. Maybe I get different associations. I don't want that. Maybe there are annoying peaple when I go watch it now. Also it's been so long ago, it's from the past. The last HP movie I watched in cinema was the last one, and it was that was a special moment.

I already bought a ticket, in case I wanna go, but I can still cancel my ticket.

Do you have any advice for me?:wtf:

I already been to some old Disney movie reruns, a few years ago. Tbh watching a movie like The Little Mermaid (which I saw so manny times already) for the the first time on the big screen, wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be. It felt senseless. Also there were children who couldn't sit still and just be quiet, which was a little annoying. Aladdin was more fun because I had not seen it as manny times yet.

Would you take the chance to see one of your favorite old movies on the big screen again or for the first time?

Of course! It's a great thing to see it on the big screen and laugh and cry with others

If they will air it in Poland too I'm definetely going! Harry Potter is a huge part of my childhood, damn I still watch the whole series 2 times a year, I think it would be amazing to watch even one of those movies again at the cinema, I don't think it would change the sentiment, you already have the memories noone will take away from you, it will be a fresh experience, specially since there will be additional scenes that never saw the day of light! The only thing that worries me is IF they decide to air it here, what will they do about the dubbing. I love polish dubbing for HP so much that it's impossible for me to watch the original version, and since the voice actors are either 20 years older or dead... :fatcat:

I'm sure they just play the movie with subtitles here. In The Nethelands most people aren't really fond of dubbed live action movies/series. I'm not saying our dub is bad, but it comes of as fake since we know what the actors sound like, also whe understand English quite well.

Do you think they will ad new scenes? like the deleted scenes which are in the extended version.

Yes, I've read about it somewhere, there will be additional 20-30 minutes, and Peeves will finally make it into the movie!

From what I've read here, they play it in 4DX in some cinema's. But I've also heard about the HBO Special for next year.

Well I've never watched Harry Potter at all, so I'm going to consider it in an general perspective

I think it's something that should happen quite more often, it might be something that would push the companies to really preserve their archive and remastering the ones they'd put out, giving the old and the new audience a whole new experience.

I'd probably love to see it, but actually I can't afford going to the cinema for a movie I have already seen. At least that saves me from internal dilemma as I don't support anything of the official "Wizarding World" developments anymore.

Depends on the movie but yes I would! I saw ABBA The Movie at the cinema a few years ago, and I've booked to watch Die Hard the week before Christmas. :) I'd love for classic films to be a more standard option at theatres.
