Pose’s Indya Moore on how BTW Foundation saved their life

Excerpt from the interview:

Before I started working on Pose, not too long before it, I was homeless," they told the audience according to Page Six. "I was dealing with a lot in my personal life that I never actually got to address. I just went straight into working and being an artist and everything that I am to people, and so now I’m trying to be something more for myself. And that’s what I’ve been focused on."

Along with all the good the Born This Way Foundation does, it benefitted Moore in a surprisingly personal way. Once a teen turns 18, foster care agencies no longer look after them. But the foundation makes donations to the agencies to allow kids to stay in the system longer.

"I got to stay in care until I was about 22 or 23," Moore, now 26-years-old, explained. "It was because of this foundation that I was able to be safe for so long and have some kind of structure."

Indya attended the Dom Perignon X BTW Foundation charity event last week where they thanked the foundation in an emotional speech.

Absolutely adore this. So many times we’ve heard of their goals, but seldom have we seen the direct impact of the BTW Foundation. So to hear such a powerful testimonial…that’s amazing.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

I've always asked what the foundation does and we finally get an answer, and what a beautiful thing this is. My heart is so full, I am so happy for Indya and other kids like them - and I am so proud of Gaga for all the incredible work that she does. This is just phenomenal.

This is so beautiful. Reading things like this reminds me why I admire Gaga so much, honestly her artistry is something I deeply love, but it's her heart, kindness and honest support to the LGBTIQ+ community that made me a Little Monster. You can be the most talented person in the world, but if you are not using the fruits of this talent to help others, you are not changing the world, and that's something Gaga definitely understands. The BTW Foundation truly is invaluable for many and I'm so happy to see the positive impact it has had on the lives of so many young LGBTIQ+ people.

Beautiful! Cynthia & Gaga really deserves the world.

Lets also take a moment to appriciate that a dollar of each Haus Labs product goes to The BTF, it is actually contributing to this work the more it sells!

so 1 million sales = 1 million for BTWF :firega:

It warms my heart to read this. So happy for Indya and her success in Pose as well as to BTW foundation and all the good things they have done for so many kids.

At first i thought it was just a good tax shelter for Gaga, but truly under Cynthia's leadership, this foundation bloomed!

It always surprises me how little the people who camp out on this site ever care about the foundation she runs. They are so dismissive and mocking of her charity work. They only care if she goes to an event, as long as she's serving a lewk.

Now I hope LMs think twice before trashing gaga for "another kindness post" or "another BTW Foundation project". Or make audacious claims about using the foundation as a tax shield. Be f***ing human, for once. The foundation does a lot of good.
