Taylor is the music industry and Adele is not up to her level.

Taylor literally moved her release date by a week because she knew Adele was going to crush her in terms of sales, what are you even talking about :huntyga:

She did it because of solidarity and we all know that.

Salty like sodium, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

I really don't think 1989 will top this. 1989 may have been the most successful commercial era, but Red is a huge fan classic, way more-so than 1989 - it has troves of things that the Swiftie community was anticipating for nearly a decade. I'm sure Swifties will buy 1989 up, but...

I get your point, but literally why would you not move your album release when Adele announces a release on the same day, if you're concerned with sales performance? Anyone should have done the same thing.

it's a re-release :bear: and still debuts like this

can we officially say that Taylor is the biggest album seller of all time adjusted to inflation

No. Just look at Spotify in Germany, Austria, Japan, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Spain or France and you see none of her songs are in the Top 50.

In fact, the only places where she's charting high is the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.

Adele meanwhile (and Gaga, actually) chart in every country in the world.

570k with an album full of already released songs. 1989 will be an absolute madness. Also, tadele has already secured a million copies. Those two are really the music industry.

But it's NOT an album with already released songs when it has a dozen UNRELEASED songs, completely new to the Swifties. Also, it's got 30 songs so 1 fan listening once to Taylor's album gives the album 30 streams, while a normal album by Ariana will get 10-12 streams if listened to once. Taylor clearly inflated her numbers because it would NOT have performed this well if it were just the already known songs.

Here is an article about why albums with more songs get more streams: https://www.rollingstone.com/pro/news/why-are-albums-so-long-right-now-203591/

People need to also see how little of an impact the album has in Europe or South America. She's not that popular outside of America, Australia and the UK.

She's huge in Asia. Only Gaga and avril sold more albums then her there.

If you honestly think this has anything to do with solidarity, you're kidding yourself. The fact that Adele didn't care and picked the same date as her shows there is no solidarity to have in between them both. The only reason she moved her release date is because she has had 9 consecutive #1 albums and didn't want to break her streak. I'm a Swiftie (I don't really like Adele that much, whereas Taylor is hands down one of my Top 5 faves) but you're really taking this to ridiculous levels of blind stanning with no facts all wishful thinking. :messga: Your bias is so transparent I'd like to order some for my new windows please. Being a fan doesn't magically mean your fave is automatically more successful or talented than people you like less, please open your eyes to real facts and evidence.

I mean her sales would be fine since most of it is pre-orders and signed CDs. The only reason she moved it was possibly to not lose out on streams and, most importantly, because she wanted that #1 debut (which I get, but also ... A #2 debut is a huge achievement for most artists so you know ... #richpeopleproblems)

Not me just realizing Red TV stands for “Taylors Version”. I’ve been waiting for Taylor to become a meteorologist ala Chromatica TV :derpga:
