Austria announces lockdown for the unvaccinated

I live there and it’s a bit stupid because unvaccinated people are still allowed to do almost everything. Also, in some parts of the country even vaccinated people need to show a negative pcr Test so a lot of people might be like; why even bother to get vaccinated if I can pretty much do what I want now and have to get a pcr Test even after being vaccinated

This is my question. I get that they have records on who is and isn't vaccinated but are people going to be carrying around their vaccine cards and asked to present them?

As much as I support making life difficult for the idiots who still refuse to get vaccinated, that seems a tad dystopian :laughga:

Though the choice seems to be between that and allowing people to continue spreading covid so

In EU we have our certification QR code in app in smartphones and for example when you are going to only vaccinated event or when you are crossing border to country that requires vaccination to enter they just scan your QR code.

I'm not having fun tonight.

The Dutch government is preparing similar policies. I hate that this is the solution, because it will force people to vaccinate for the wrong reasons. But it's a solution nonetheless. The only alternative is to shut down the country completely, with all the economical ramifications that come with it.

I wonder if people who are unvaccinated will buy fake qr codes like they do here in the Netherlands.
They really be willing to pay 500 euros for one instead of taking the vaccine shot:smh:

I kinda wish that the government would just announce a general vaccine mandate instead of making up all these roundabout ways of forcing it.

I'm so glad my country has one of the highest vaccination rates in Europe. People were sceptical at first but they ended up getting it and even tho we're having a little spike we're doing pretty fine.

This is already done in Europe.

It’s not as crazy as you Americans think it is. Here in Ireland, we have our vaccine certification on an app, and whenever we go somewhere like a bar, the cinema, club, etc, the worker scans it before we go in.
