Adele has sold 100 million records with three albums. The last two Adele albums are THREE TIMES more popular in terms of sales than the biggest Taylor album. 

Adele is way more successful than Taylor. Adele has only 3 albums and nine official singles and sold 100 million.

Taylor has 9 albums and 52 singles (FIFTY TWO SINGLES) and has sold 200 million. Adele is way more successful, let's be objective.

that’s not true though, adele’s at about 20 million copies sold per album average and taylor is obviously nowhere near that

I think it's probably because she doesn't have the same back catalog, 30 million of those streams came from the rest of Taylor's album. If Olivia continues the way she is tho, she'll be up there

I love Adele, don’t get me wrong but the way I interpreted what the user said by saying Taylor is more successful is she just feels like a more impactful artist. Yes Adele’s number are undeniable and no one comes close to them. But she’s barely been present in the music scene, she comes like every 5 years puts out an album and then goes back into hibernation. There’s no interactivity with Adele it feels like. We get a music video here and there and short tour here and there. Whereas with Taylor, the girl has literally put on a spectacle for the entire music industry. She’s done way more in her career than Adele has. I actually don’t even think we should compare them from how different their success translates but it seems this site loves to compare the top 2 most successful females in music rn. They both have their own lanes and it’s not fair to discredit Taylor just cause Adele sells more. Not saying you’re doing that, just for those who are.

I am not just talking about numbers and charts when I say ‘in my opinion she is more successful’, I am talking about overall impact on the industry and the way it’s being shaped and changed by her, look at the last post about Universal changing it’s re-recording rules because of her releases. Taylor has inspired so many new artists like Olivia for example through her songwriting making her legacy live on even through them in a way. This is not about putting them against each other as I don’t believe in that but to me Taylor has had a bigger impact in the way music is today than Adele. And even so, Adele has to catch up to Taylor if you really want to talk charts and sales, we don’t know how Adele’s rollouts will be from now on, so yes, she has achieved a lot in a shorter time with less work but she is still not there yet. Maybe she will be maybe she won’t and it’s okay, I just think Taylor is an innovator and a game changer.
