Galvon 1,868
I feel like it's a trend nowadays, or is it already over? I think some covers like chromatica do indeed look better without a font, but with a lot of other album covers it just feels lazy to me. Like they didn't know a font that fit the cover, and just say it looks better without a font, as if there was no graphic designer around. However, maybe you think a font can also make an album look outdated faster, but is it a bad thing if it looks like a product of it's time? What do you think of album covers without a font. Guest
I usually prefer them visually.
Queen Bitch 10,513
I prefer them without a font, it looks better aesthetically and also makes sense now in the streaming age. When you go to stream an album on Spotify for example, why have a font on the cover, when the title of the album is in the big letters next to the cover. Andreu 37,216
I feel like many album covers age badly because of their fonts/graphic design so maybe they think just using a plain photo kinds of avoid it. I agree that sometimes they look amazing (like in Chromatica's case, honestly I don't know where would I place the text on the cover without it being too much, but many others simple feel empty and lazy. Zedd 6,228
I hate so many covers with any texts on them. E.g. the latest Bebe Rexha’s album, the font is so ugly The ARTPOP Zedd
Sorcerer 12,462
It depends on the image and the font that they will use. Frank Ocean's Blond, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, and Madonna's Erotica all look good with text. Even The Fame wouldn't look as recognizable without the text. Putang Ina Mo 2,128
I just noticed that all of Bjork's album covers doesn't have a text (except for Vespertine). (Biophilia is more of a symbol and Medulla's title is literally a piece of accessory rather than written) my username says it all 🇵🇭

This is so depressing to me as a graphic designer.

RAMROD 107,604
It has been trending for awhile because of its timeless effect. Also it is cheaper to produce. So that us what it is. I do not mind at all obviously. Unless it is very artsy fonts or interesting title, title-less album cover look way better to display as vinyl

And she really makes up for it by creating entirely new fonts for her albums that feature on the back covers/booklets/etc. Also Vespertine has the title but it blends perfectly with the visual of the swan.
