So cool she talked to Olivia! Is it Brooke, our Twitter livestream queen, I'm spotting in the back?

I'm a bit uncomfortable about what Gaga is saying here tho. Saying Patrizia didn't marry Maurizio for his money is kinda playing on words.... If it weren't for money, then it was for his name, which is low-key the same thing. Not saying there wasn't love, but come on, she knew who she was marrying.

And the thing that pushed her over the edge was Maurizio letting go of his 50% in Gucci, because it basically took away the legacy and prospect of company control from their daughters. Ok she was in love and hurt, but she was a greedy, proud and crazy bitch, let's not get it twisted.

Even people who commit crimes are people with human emotions. Gaga was trying to find her motivation. It’s not that Gaga approves. She has made that very clear. Gaga asked why would she do that? And she found deeper human emotion that might motivate someone to do an awful thing. She isn’t getting it twisted. She is adding humanity to the character.

I'm sorry, but I think this whole kindness punk really went too far this time. Not her empathizing with a murderer.

I know Gaga loves to see the good in people and she wants to believe that for her character, but by the interviews I've seen of Patrizia she seems remorseless about her crime. She said she preferred to cry in a Rolls Royce than be happy on a bike. Of course she married Maurizio for the money, and of course she killed him because she was losing the whole thing.

That’s when you know she’s a good actress. As actors, is our job NOT to judge the character, but to find their humanity and play them from there. I also agree that she’s not, by any means, justifying her awful actions, she’s just talking about how, as an actress, she approaches to her characters. In acting, in order to find truth in a character, and perform with honesty, first and foremost, actors need to empathize with the role they’re playing. That doesn’t mean that, if we get to play a role like this one, we are justifying their actions. It’s a little hard to understand if you have not studied the art of acting

The answer is ARTPOP. Because it's the best.

It would’ve been The Fame Monster cuz Alejandro is “saying goodbye to past lovers” :trollga:

Absolutely! Patrizia may have committed a heinous crime, but let’s not pretend like she was born a murderer.

I’m not trying to defend Patrizia or what she did, but she was a multi-faceted human being and I think it’s really cool that Gaga wanted to give her dimensionality.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

Ok, sure. But like I mentioned in my post, saying Patrizia was all about love and in no way interested in money and reputation is factually not true. It's also one thing to find humanity in your character (especially if you inhabit her for months), but it's another to portray the character under this light on a red carpet. Patrizia is a terrible person, I don't want to empathize with her and that's definitely a fine line to tread for Gaga during promo and I'll be honest: I expected her to do better than that

Thank you!

Once again, not saying Gaga shouldn't find the humanity in the character, she definitely needed it to portray her. But I'm not sure that's something you should keep doing in interviews on a red carpet. Just a quick research on Patrizia should be enough for you guys to understand why I'm slightly uncomfortable here.

If you want to express empathy, maybe do it towards Maurizio's daughters who lost their dad 26 years ago and have to relive the trauma because of a Hollywood movie. Just a thought.

I think it's really interesting what she's saying and it makes me even more interested in the character of Patrizia, and how she'll be portrayed in the movie

Well, just because Gaga is empathizing with her, doesn't mean that you have to as well right?

But now that I'm thinking of it, I wonder if this will be a polarizing thing in the movie? Like, showing Patrizia's side and making her more easy to empathize with.. some people will not like that (I'm just speculating idk if they do take that angle)

Well, given Gaga's statements, I guess we already know the answer... Since they pretty much turned Patrizia into the lead of the story, I believe they tried to find a way to make the character more appealing to the audience. And since Gaga based her performance mainly off of the script and didn't read the book it's based on, that might explain her point of view. I know she did her research, but still... Reading the book would have been enlightening, and I'm a little baffled she didn't.

Once again, I understand the necessity to find humanity in the character to be able to portray her. There's just something about saying Patrizia was all about strength and love that doesn't sit well with me, that's all. Hope that's clearer.
