Queen Bitch 10,513
The director of the Danish Health Authority Søren Brostrøm has called for politicians to reintroduce requirements for the country's Covid-19 health pass, the coronapas. In comments to broadcaster TV2, Brostrøm asked parliament to support a move to bring back requirements to use the health pass to access certain services and locations in Denmark. “My recommendation goes to politicians and parliament because these are political decisions,” Brostrøm told TV2. “Medically, I see it as a good option at cafes, restaurants, concerts and in nightlife. It would be a good idea at this time,” Brostrøm said. The director of the national health authority also said he was concerned about the robustness of the health system given the current surge of infections in Denmark. Previous requirements for use of a valid coronapas were lifted on September 1st, but with Covid-19 infection numbers currently soaring in Denmark, experts have already called for the health pass to be brought back into use to stem infection spread. The ‘corona passport’ certifies that the holder has had a negative test in the last 72 hours, a vaccination or has recently recovered from Covid-19, conferring immunity to the disease. Because of a change in the classification of Covid-19, the government must now have parliamentary backing to introduce most restrictions against the coronavirus, including coronapas requirements. The Conservative Party on Friday said it does not favour bringing back the documentation for accessing places like restaurants and bars. “Test capacity has already been increased a lot so infected people can be identified and isolated. Those measured should be given a chance to work before we start speaking about the coronapas,” the party’s health spokesperson Per Larsen said. https://www.thelocal.dk/20211105/danish-health-authority-director-urges-country-to-bring-back-coronapas/
PartySick 172,424
I'm definitely for vaccine passports when traveling to new places (there are already vaccine requirements in a lot of places, just add covid to that list) but I can't imagine having to flash my vax card to get a big mac Whimsical bitch

There is necessity of proof for MANY vaccines. Anyone who has travelled globally knows this. Many anti-vaxxers use terms like "authoritarian" or "medical tyranny" to try and paint COVID-19 vaccine mandates as scary and controlling, when it's entirely about public safety and containing the virus before it mutates into something even more unpredictable. By ending their post with implying there's a bigger scheme at play with "it's honestly weird if this covid talk keeps going for more than a couple years"... honestly it's crystal clear that this person thinks there's more to this than simple public health strategy. It's misleading and borderline disinformation.

I had to flash my vax card at the mcDonalds and was so disgusted that I turned around and left. Haven’t eaten from them since then.
RAMROD 117,004
Good, every country should have some sort of vaccine passport until the country reached 80% of their population getting both shots, and the booster too. And that's factually incorrect because vaccine passports have been a thing for ages. And even if they weren't, they should be for COVID (and other pandemics that will hit us in the future) because literally no one should be at the mercy of idiots who refuse to get vaccinated because they read a Facebook post about how the vaccine will make your left eye fall off or something. Either that, or do a daily PCR test and get a negative result. Y'all keep screaming that you wanna go back to "normal" then refuse the most basic public health strategies to fight the spread and mutation of the virus. 1 hour ago, LostBoyfriend said: If you really think that these are MERELY and ONLY for public health strategy then that's kinda ignorant to say the least And I can't say without any indication of conspiracies that it would an actual worry ? Like it would be actually weird if COVID is still a hot topic 3 or 5 years down the line as it is RIGHT now? It would supposedly be dieing down right? Vaccines are been applied, so I wanna believe we've been through the worst part (not having vaccine and not knowing the virus, and not knowing how to control the sickness) but it's been almost 2 years, we have multiple vaccines around the world and we've started to know how to help symptoms. So we should theoretically be seeing a down in cases and infections (and more importantly deaths) not an up, right? that's literally not how any of this works Vaccines aren't being given instantly to everyone around the globe. There's a huge disparity in vaccination rates between countries, and there are big numbers of people who refusing the vaccine. Add to that the fact that vaccines don't just eradicate the virus instantly but need 1. a high % of vaccinated people and 2. TIME to take effect. Meanwhile, the virus will keep mutating and, if we're unlucky enough, a new and more powerful mutation might take over. Absolutely no one said the pandemic will die down in a year or two, and whoever believes that has no idea what they're talking about. Things are getting better in many countries (mostly rich ones obviously), but it's not fully over yet, and the fact that so many people are also refusing booster shots now (for reasons ranging from being anti-vaxx to "I've taken 2 shots already, I don't need a third"), things might go downhill again. Also you're forgetting the fact that we literally still don't have a widespread cure (not vaccine) for COVID. We're getting there, and things will 100% get better when that's available, but still that doesn't mean that we can just go back to 0 restrictions because mutations exist. Until 80% of the earth population (I am not 100% sure about that number, could have changed since last time I checked), we still need to take precautions to avoid another catastrophe. Luc 4,776
Honestly, governments are allowed to go much further in my opinion. Some Southern European countries have reached very high % vaccinated because you need a vaccine to go to work, for instance. Possibilities would be, for instance, a tax on unvaccinated people (or higher insurance payments) to cover all covid-related expenses, no longer allowing a test as legitimate entry instead of vaccination, and expanding the vaccine requirement to workplaces. I'd rather see 10% of the population enter lockdown than 100% of the population. Also, they should really hurry up with approving the vaccine for those under the age of 12. Getting an additional 10-15% of the population jabbed will slow down infections a lot.
