COOOK 76,406
“I don’t pay attention to the noise,” says Johnson, who practices Transcendental Meditation daily. “I pay attention to if the script is great and the people involved are great.” Some noise is impossible to block out. Like the power of the #MeToo movement and the clamor of cancel culture, which have swept through Hollywood in recent years and put so many of her former male co-stars, like Depp, LaBeouf and Armie Hammer, in jeopardy of never returning to the profession following abuse allegations and which, for some, allow no opportunity for redemption. “I never experienced that firsthand from any of those people,” she says. “I had an incredible time working with them; I feel sad for the loss of great artists. I feel sad for people needing help and perhaps not getting it in time. I feel sad for anyone who was harmed or hurt. It’s just really sad. I do believe that people can change. I want to believe in the power of a human being to change and evolve and get help and help other people. I think there’s definitely a major overcorrection happening. But I do believe that there’s a way for the pendulum to find the middle. The way that studios have been run up until now, and still now, is behind. It is such an antiquated mindset of what movies should be made, who should be in them, how much people should get paid, what equality and diversity look like. Sometimes the old school needs to be moved out for the new school to come in. But, yeah, cancel culture is such a f*cking downer. I hate that term.” Full article here. Guest
I don't like people saying "Never experienced that with this person" it doesn't mean anything at all. Many businessmen or actors or colleagues or whoever, even a brother, a bestfriend they can be so nice to you, and then in reality they abducted someone in their basement for years, you can't just say "Never been abducted by him, he was really nice". Same with terrorists "Well he was really polite to me". It's like an attempt to say that the accusations are a bit false, it's so sad, so disgusting to say that. Do you realize we don't live inside a script/movie and that evil takes many forms? You can be Mother Theresa and you've done something bad to people, yes Mother Theresa is not perfect, the Pope is homophobic and a terrorist living right close to my area once opened the door to my mother and was polite. Guess what, we all have the ability of goodness and evil, and some choose to commit a crime, and when it's committed, whatever good they did before it doesn't ****ing matter. You were bad, you raped, you killed, you shot, you don't get to tell the victim "Well, he opened the door for me and helped me one time". And I'm sorry but to keep letting people who committed a crime, and I see psychological abuse as a crime too, to let them have a career again, and as usual men who always for centuries been getting away with everything, No Dakota it's not harmful to society to do that, and in some cases cancel culture is not always bad, it has its good sides. Of course as a society we always have to push to help people and make them heal, but some cannot heal, that's the reality we live in. Ted Bundy couldn't be healed, some were born to be punished forever because they cannot change. Some people cannot change, we don't live in Disneyland, and if it was that easy, we would live in a perfect lalaland.

LaLa 19,703
16 minutes ago, JohnWayne92 said: I don’t think she said anything wrong. Women who experience abuse often have a hard time finding support to leave an abusive partner, because when they tell people they are often met with skepticism and disbelief. "But John is so nice!" "Not Steve, I don't believe it, he wouldn't hurt a fly!" etc. Abusers are often charming and fun and friendly to everyone who isn't their partner, so when someone says "but I never experienced any problems with him!" after a women shares hers story it can be truly harmful. Saying "well maybe he's changed!" when there is no evidence of that is just as bad. These men aren't "cancelled" because of a bad joke or misquote or old tweet or something. Especially in Shia and Armie's cases there are very credible allegations of domestic abuse by multiple women. Dakota shouldn't be speaking on something like this so flippantly. HuffsAhoy 7,433
This is like me telling my cousin "Well, your dad has never sexually abused me. He's been a great guy every time I've been around him. I think you're just overreacting." You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.
