Did anybody that’s criticizing him on here watch his special? His whole point was that he can make jokes and clown black people and basically say whatever about black people, but the MOMENT a joke is made about the LGBTQ+ community, his whole career could be over. It’s ok to joke on black people but not LGBTQ+. There was a message behind the jokes and his message stands true.

So two things in your point:

1. He’s not queer. So there’s that level of why keep our issues in your mouth and feel entitled to express an opinion on it?

2. His POV supposes that LGBTQ+ issues are white issues. He is still viewing it through the lens of a racial critique which is insanely dismissive of how diverse the queer community is, something he doesn’t care to acknowledge which plays into a broader lens of homophobia full out denying that you can be “Black” and be queer. Because queerness is a white issue.

I know his argument, it just makes absolutely no sense and is rooted in a very ignorant misunderstanding of the people he feels he has the firm footing to make a statement on.

It’s a strange argument because it doesn’t take much thought to figure out why people are fine with him joking about Black issues. Sure, there is some racism to it and America’s culture of racism, but his audience is also primarily Black. He was able to succeed in his career because he could speak to cis Black men’s issues like no one else seemingly could. On the flip side, his audience isn’t really LGBTQ+, nor does he have a huge frame of reference for his opinion to form on the community. So what he ends up with is this strange and offensive idea that to be LGBTQ+ is to be privileged more than a Black man is...when that is not necessarily the case as intersectionality is critically important.

He didn’t give too much thought to this one and went on about something he doesn’t know much about. It is what it is. He doesn’t know the history and culture of queerness in America; it’s *also* embedded in America’s DNA. Why? Well, ironically, in large part due to the contributions of the Black queer folk trailblazing ahead.

Thats the danger of speaking on something you don’t know. You might find yourself completely proven wrong.

There's also this question of ‘why’? Why feel the need to make this comparison? What would compel you to? What is the tension you’re feeling in saying that you think you can clown Black folk but not LGBTQ+ people? The tension is that he sees it as Black vs. white. It’s the only way his argument tracks. The problem is that that logic doesn’t work for the reasons I’ve pointed out.  But the problem at hand beyond that is that he refuses to simply be wrong and move tf on. He just wants to antagonize more and more to prove he’s right on this when he continues ignoring the same points I’ve brought up since ignoring them is the only way his argument holds up.

He’s lumping the experience of every LGBTQ+ person into that of a privileged cis white gay man (which if talking about the privilege of them vs non gay Black men were his argument then yes I’d agree with him) when that simply isn’t the case.

Standing ovation. Everything you said is so eloquently put and well said, I agree 100%. And exactly, WHY make the comparison? We understand that racism deeply rooted in American culture, and it's going to take a long time to make things right. On the flip side, even with the strides the LGBTQ+ community has taken forward there are still issues we face. All of our struggles as people are valid, and it seems like what this trashbox is saying is that since I as a black man suffer from racism then so will y'all until we're on equal footing. It is extremely ignorant, and dangerous.

The black community is a lot more conservative when it comes to their opinions about the LGBTQ+ community, and not only is he dismissing the fact that our community is diverse and not just white people but he's also making it an us vs. them scenario which is dangerous. He is weaponizing race and gender/sexual identity to get away with being an ignorant, trashy, disgusting bigot. The last thing we need right now is dismissing and mocking our voices, and pretending that we can't support and be vocal towards more than one cause. Again, trashy ignorant and stupid all around.

Everyone never collectively mention his name unless it’s the one day his next special comes out, or, it’s something life altering.

I literally don’t even know what he said

Well, this is just gonna give him confidence to do even dumber ****, so he's gonna get "cancelled" either way.

I think he's gonna continue to make jokes about the lgbt community and keep trying to push buttons. People already showed him they got the time of day to talk about him.

I’ll take this over a fake, pussified and forced apology. If this is truly your opinion, stand by it.

This is not an eloquent or necessary topic, it's just a bunch of you complaining and flaming to a guy just because you didn't like his jokes and you found the way to feel offended by that and you keep craving more and more making more drama out of it.

You don't like flaming? Well don't start flamming threads.
