Dave Chappelle: “I would like to apologize to… Nah, I’m just f-in’ with ya"

With a fire of anger still burning around his recent Netflix comedy special, Dave Chappelle stepped out Saturday night (Oct. 30) to induct Jay-Z into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The comedian, who resides in rural Yellow Springs, Ohio, began his speech by saying, “I would like to apologize to… Nah, I’m just f---in’ with ya,” -- referencing the criticism he’s gotten for jokes he made in his The Closer special, released earlier this month, about the transgender community. The controversy has led to a backlash against Netflix by its employees for supporting the comedian's viewpoint.
Chappelle was equally unapologetic in his praise for Jay-Z, noting that “I need everybody around the world to know: Even though you are honoring him, he is ours. He is hip-hop, forever and ever and a day.”

Well, I’ll give him props for standing his ground with his comedic material, a lot of other people would’ve buckled under the backlash already. Agreeing with his comedy or not, it is kinda refreshing to see in a way, also a little edgelordy and annoying. Dave somehow strikes that middle road of refreshing and annoying quite often lol.

Did anybody that’s criticizing him on here watch his special? His whole point was that he can make jokes and clown black people and basically say whatever about black people, but the MOMENT a joke is made about the LGBTQ+ community, his whole career could be over. It’s ok to joke on black people but not LGBTQ+. There was a message behind the jokes and his message stands true.
