I know it’s irritating to be posting so many of these massive paragraphs, and I know Perfect Illusion won (my 11! :excited2:), but I just wanted to share my thoughts about (both versions of) “Joanne” the title track:

Joanne is an album of love songs - to friends, to family, to yourself, to the world. But the most important love song is the title track. It’s a love song to somebody who can never reply, whom its writer never knew, whose influence is more vast than she could ever have known. “Joanne” encapsulates a love that is unconditional, selfless, and beautiful. And it soars.

To write a song exploring—and attempting to heal—intergenerational trauma is a beautiful and selfless act of love. To make that your title track is an undeniably bold move, and it really gave the album and era a sense of purpose and authenticity. “Joanne” exists to heal; it is a simple, personal, powerful attempt to mend a string of forever broken hearts, and to remind all of us that however insignificant we might think we are, our influence can be boundless, as can others’ capacity to cherish us. No matter how you might feel about yourself, there’s someone out there that can’t wait to see you soar.

Never have we heard emotional honesty like this from Lady Gaga, and rarely have we heard a finer vocal performance than on the sublime Piano Version. Alternately heartbreaking and healing, Joanne is a love song that can never be answered, and it remains Gaga’s most glorious ballad.

Thanks for this.  This is why it was my 11.  And her piano renditions always slay.

Thanks.  Great moment.  I should have known.  I was at that concert.  I love the end of Angel Down at 3:26 into this:
