I noticed that too, super tight and strained vocals.

At the Academy Gala Museum 25 she sounded super fine tho, I don't know what's going on with vegas.

She's definitely struggling to sing, mainly due to reckless smoking. Of course as people age their vocal abilities change but in her case, the process was accelerated from smoking. And she's not even 40 yet... 

You can hear the difference even in her normal speaking voice, I am not joking. 

 

When u say smoking…. Do you mean tobacco? I haven’t been following her closely But I thought she said she quit in her documentary

Every time we get videos from Vegas people go nuts saying her voice is declining. Then we get videos of proper performances and it's all "phew, her voice is back!!!".... it's the cellphone-quality recordings posted to twitter that are the problem here guys. People who go to the shows in person say her voice is great

Her vocal decline is real but it's not new, she's been sounding like this for years now. The westfield performance is not as good as people pretend to be, she's very nasal and sounds like she had a cold. Nobody on her team will tell her this though, so it's unlikely she'll get better (and it's probably irreversible at this point).

I was listening to a HQ recording of the BTWBT a few weeks ago and it made me sad because I remembered how clean and resonant she sounded. Fashion of His Love was a Godly experience.

I'm not going to write any obituaries for her voice. I'm just a listener with zero technical knowledge, so if someone isn't singing as well as they were five years ago, I don't know why that might be or what is the likelihood of their getting back to where they were. But .... as a listener, she just doesn't sound the same to me as she used to, and she doesn't sound as good.

Even Westfield, I really liked Westfield, but was it as good as JWT for example ? Hand on heart, no, it wasn't.
