Actually DC's first album came out in 1998 and Spice Girls' Wannabe was in 1996, even though DC were already active since the early 90s, the Spice Girls are the ones who dictated what a successful Girl Band would look like.

Ooh today I learned!

just the fact that she comes from tik tok means a CULTURE RESET, the fact the app is giving birth new artists

it's very clear a CULTURE RESET

i am NOT going to add Britney, clearly you guys want her, she might be iconic, might be popular, she prob had a lot of wannabes but SONICALLY she didn't change anything, without the teen pop sound that boy bands brought or that sweedish girl (forgot the name) they would not be Britney. Help us @Gimme More

Ya ok lol what a mess putting Addison Rae and not Britney Spears. Gaga, xtina, Taylor, Avril, Rihanna, Miley, Selena, Hilary Duff, Raven Symoné, Demi, Olivia Rodrigo, would literally not exist at all or in the same way if there wasn’t Britney first and to think otherwise is stupid. Britney redefined and created what a popstar is with Baby One More Time. You’re too focused on “sounds” but then you put Addison Rae in there when she isn’t even the first TikTok musician nor did her song make any impact on TikTok or music.

Build A B, Say So or Old Town Road deserve a spot to represent TikTok more than Addison Rae ever could.

Also put this. it established Nicki as a rap legend and a force to be reckoned with.

Good question, by sales figures Complicated was the breakout hit and first single. But in terms of cultural impact, Sk8er Boi was the rock and roll emo sound that dominated the charts from that point and dictated her career. I think maybe someone else can chime in and say what they think, personally I think Sk8er Boi is the most representative of the sound that she brought with her

Also what about the Pussycat Dolls? They were huge at some point. And also the Jai Ho! hit was a big one. Any thoughts from people?

EDIT: Also Gloria Gaynor's I will survive, 100%.

They meant the earliest 2000s track, i.e. first after 1999.
