To kill a person this way, you would have to continue to apply pressure sufficient to strangulate for about 4–5 min in order to ensure death…probably longer in some cases.

That is why it is one of the more horrible and harshly punished murders. It takes a long time to do. You have a minimum of 4–6 min to sit there quietly with the person unconscious squeezing with time to stop and reconsider. It’s not a trigger pull instant decision. It’s a process. You can’t argue self defense or heat of the moment with strangulation. You had a long time with the person utterly defenseless to stop and come to your senses as it were.

That was my immediate thought. I have no idea how someone can argue a case against this / defend someone, when the cause of death is something that takes so long and you have so much time to make the decision to stop.

So the cops who pulled them over and could see marks of violence and the girl very upset crying, somehow they decide to let it slide without further investigation or at least keeping them apart?

There’s so much cops can do if they both decided to not file charges on each other, the cops that handle the traffic stop were actually really helpful to her by keeping them away from each other for that day… I’ve seen the video and the cop talking to Gabby did an amazing job for the situation…

No they did not. The call they got from a witness clearly specified that the guy "was slapping the girl". So the girl was in complete mental breakdown unable to even speak coherently. The first thing they could've done is seek medical help for her and call her family or emergency contacts.

And the “girl that was slapped” decided to not press charges so what were the cops supposed to do honey?

You don't need to press charges in the U.S. If the cops believe there is probable cause that you have committed a crime, you can be arrested regardless of whether the victim wants to press charges in that moment or not. They don't need the victim's permission to do it.

And again the least they could do is actually take her to a hospital, because she was clearly in distress.

You can Google her name and get lots of articles. There are also lots of podcasts on it. It’s a very famous case in the US right now. This should help to start.
