Reject False Icons 4,695
Idk if I asked that question before? but in her very early days when she left behind Stefani Germanotta and started with the glam 80s aesthetic, was she known in a particular scene? To be a well known underground artist on MySpace ? Was she considered alternative? Before just dance blew up?
Chromatican 4,046
She wasn't known before Just Dance. The Stefani Germanotta Band would not be classified as alternative though.
PunkTheFunk 123,842
No one outside of a single city block in New York knew who she was before Just Dance.

LuvitLevit 639
She was considered rock, soft rock, and soul, with some folk and reggae. The SGBand actually did have some recognition. I hosted an open mic in va back in like 07 and between shows, we’d play some of their material. That was how I first became a fan. When she blew up, my best friend was the one who told me that she was the same person 😂. I remember thinking this lady is super talented to go from this to that and slay both! Celloo Deng 53,831
I remember a friend of mine saw her in a tiny club in Liverpool when Just Dance was just starting to get noticed in the UK. I remember thinking of her back then as a kind of underground EDM pop cool kid. She quickly went into the pop mainstream after that though. do i need to understand a pineapple to eat a banana
S0436 10,215
Her image in her imperial era was considered alternative, the music not so much.
