TaylorSwift 162,475
Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe’s new campaign strategy is targeting Facebook, Instagram, and Google search ads that accuse his opponent, Republican Glenn Youngkin, of having a role in the controversial purchase of Swift’s master recordings in 2019. Youngkin used to be the co-CEO of the private equity firm The Carlyle Group before retiring and launching his 2021 gubernatorial bid. Carlyle Group financially backed the 2019 sale of Swift's former label, Scott Borchetta's Big Machine Records, to Ithaca Holdings, a company run by Scooter Braun, for $300 million. Swift herself spoke extensively about the deal, even calling out Youngkin's former company for its part in the sale that, she said, made it difficult for her to perform her own songs or use them in her Netflix documentary Taylor Swift: Miss Americana. "I'm especially asking for help from The Carlyle Group, who put up money for the sale of my music to these two men," Swift tweeted in 2019, urging fans for support. Terry McAuliffe wants Taylor Swift fans can help prevent his state from turning . Terry McAuliffe's ads are reportedly targeted at voters who engage with Taylor Swift content on Facebook and Instagram or who are searching for the singer through Google in Virginia. The ads contain #WeStandWithTaylor — a hashtag fans use to support the singer in the dispute over rights to her music — the as well as images of Swift and Youngkin. source source https://store.taylorswift.com
LOVEDRUG 11,269
not gonna lie it is smart. if it's true, it's completely on the table to be used in a campaign, since something like this says a lot about character. "through all the tears and all the lies, i'm gonna dance until i feel alright"
