I found it very interesting how according to polls "Germans think they're interested more by a policy driven campaigning instead of a personality focussed campaigning", however both Laschet and Baerbock have become hugely unpopular because of perceived personality flaws/personal mistakes.  

It's very much reflective of what I have experienced in Germany overall. The general public loves to delude themselves into thinking they want (or don't want) something, but when it happens or there's signs that it might be happening everybody gets cold feet real quick. It's very dishonest and draining politcally lmao. 

I was hoping for a leftist coaltion with SPD, Grüne & Linke, but the conservatives and right-wing populists are too strong. What's also quite interesting is that almost 10% of all votes have gone to fringe parties that won't make it to the parliament, more than double the per cent than last election.

I'm a bit shocked at the AfD numbers in Saxony though, oh my god. I expected them to do well there, but not STILL THIS well? Wtf? Who are these people

In Sachsen dürfte die AfD die stärkste politische Kraft bei der Bundestagswahl werden. Sie legt nach Auszählung von 70 Prozent der Stimmen nach Zweitstimmen zwar nur leicht auf 27,2 Prozent zu, profitiert aber von der Schwäche der CDU, die gegenüber 2017 fast zehn Prozentpunkte verliert und mit 19,7 Prozent noch hinter der SPD (20,8) landen könnte. Mindestens fünf der 16 sächsischen Wahlkreise fallen sicher an AfD-Kandidaten, am Ende könnten sie in einer zweistelligen Zahl von Wahlkreisen die meisten Erststimmen sammeln. 2017 waren es drei.

Here are the preliminary results at around 5 to 7am:

SPD and Grüne really said "I'm here, b!tches"  . CDU can take several seats in the opposition now

Also, the Bundestag with 735 seats will the biggest one in German history and the second largest parliament after the Chinese one  . Prognoses before the election estimated even 1000 seats, so let's see

Honestly, it's still shocking that despite all the corruption scandals, the CDU/CSU is still kicking that strong, along with the FDP. 

I'm fearful of the FDP being in the government again, especially with the anti-democratic, anti-progressive and anti poor people rhethoric prominent leaders of the party have adopted in the last 10 years. The Ampel is probably gonna serve "Große Koalition 2.0" and not get sh*t done because of their volatility. Or the Ampel might not even happen at all due to Lindner's huge inflated ego and we're gonna end up with a power vacuum till 2022 that's gonna end with an SPD-lead Grand Coalition.

With all that we have to remember tho that the FDP would be the weakest party in any coalition they'de be in. While I agree with all of your points about the FDP, I think it wouldn't be as dramatic in either the Jamaika coalition (please lord, no  ) or the Ampel coalition. And having the Ampel in favor of any coalition where the CDU is involved is much better than anyone can hope for  .

Wtf are you talking about? The FDP is a progressive, liberal and the most pro LGBTQ+ party in Germany. They are the party with the least amount of extreme positions and stand up for civil rights and freedom.

Because middle-aged people vote them (mostly) bc they feel unheard and unrepresented by the other parties - especially as it's perceived as politics mainly made by West Germans - and so they vote for the AfD out of protest. A few disgusting people vote for it bc it's a far-right party, tho .
