Kylie Sonique Love did it like Dolly and Jessica Lange and Steven Tyler. And it won her the "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars" 6 crown.

Before her win, Kylie was the first queen to sashay away after a lackluster Snatch Game performance. Her Season 2 Lady Gaga sealed her fate. She eventually came out as trans during the reunion episode.

Eleven years later, Kylie reemerged on "All Stars" as a completely new queen who can serve comedy, vocals, fashion and, of course, body-ody-ody. She redeemed herself beautifully as Dolly Parton during Snatch Game of Love. And she gave us a "Dirrrty" lip sync to remember against Manila Luzon. 

The new "Drag Race" Hall of Famer talked about her transformation, her love of Dolly and growing up listening to Selena.

 

 

What comes to mind when you think of Houston?

Beyoncé. I think of Beyoncé. I think of Selena, and I think of Beyoncé. I know Selena's from Corpus Christi, but Houston was one of the last places that she played, at the Astrodome.

Are you a Selena fan?

I'm a huge Selena fan. I was actually a fan of Selena before they made the movie and before she was murdered. Trust me. I grew up in the country, around mostly white people, but when I'd get on the bus, we picked up people of color and Latin people. I was so much more intrigued by people that were different because I knew that livin' in my home, I was different than all of them, and I was treated differently, too. There was a Latin family that rode my bus, and Adela, she introduced me to Selena, and we would listen to it. I had no idea what Selena was saying, but I loved it. I felt like I was escaping my white home that I did not fit in at all. I was sharin' somethin' with someone that maybe looked different than me but we enjoyed something together. Not long after, Adela came on the bus, and she was and Maria was sad, and Lucia was sad. They were like, "Somebody killed Selena." I remember makin' my dad buy me the cassette tape. He took me, my brother and my sister occasionally to the music store, and he would let us each buy one cassette. My sister got the Crash Test Dummies. I put in my cassette, and it's all Spanish, and my dad's like, "What are you playin'?" We don't talk to this day, but he did let me listen to my Selena cassette on the way home. Bless his redneck heart. He needed that culture.

Knowing you love Selena makes me love you even more.

I have to tell you also, that Dolly Parton candle that I have? I have the Selena one that goes on the other side. They are always together. I will say this, too. Selena really is the Marilyn Monroe of this generation. She died young. She will always be beautiful. We don't know anything bad about her. She will always be a perfect angel. She's what taught me how to be a superstar onstage in a lot of ways. I have Selena and Dolly and Pink and Madonna and Beyoncé. These women are powerful. I love them.

It makes me happy that Selena's memory lives on, her music will live on forever. A pride for Latinos.
