Aussie songwriter claims Ed Sheeran's song is eerily similar to his song

An Australian songwriter, Nick Gill (who writes songs under the name ‘The January Choir’),  could not believe his ears when he heard Ed Sheeran’s touching new song, Visiting Hours, given how similar it was to a song he wrote months earlier. 

Sheeran wrote the song in hotel quarantine in Australia in March before performing it at Michael Gudinski’s memorial service.

Gill’s song, Stormy Weather, features vocalist Abbi Yeo and was produced by former Australia’s Got Talent runner-up Matt McLaren.

Gill never released the full song online but did share a few snippets from the recording process on his Instagram account in January.

It does sound really similar, but it's not a super groundbreaking melody either. But consdering it would not be the first time for Ed, Idk if i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt

that last bit especially sounds similar tbh....idk tho...i feel like all melodies have already been created. almost every single song can be overlapped on top of another and it owuld be a match. The whole crediting thing is going to eventually cease to exist I think
