Shakira released Whenever, Wherever on 27 August 2001 as the lead single from her fifth studio album and English-language debut, Laundry Service.
The song became her breakthrough hit in the United States, peaking at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This song is so iconic and such a huge hit for Shakira. I wonder how much taxable-income this song earned her

Gaaaaaah, I’m so old. Thanks for the reminder. Now if you will excuse me, I need to go find some Ibuprofen for my back.

Great Song! Laundry Service was the last album for me that I really liked from Shakira.  I love her earlier spanish language stuff but I didn't like the post Laundry Service work much.  Preferred her as a spanish langugage singer songwriter to pop star Shakira.

I feel like most people don’t know this, but Whenever, Wherever actually samples the theme song from the 90s anime Tenchi Muyo. For 90s babies like myself, you might remember this show from Toonami on Cartoon Network.
