Guest Posted August 26, 2021 Share Posted August 26, 2021 I will go watch this in cinema to then have an opinion but from what I'm seeing and as a huge Lady Di admirer, I can't unsee Kristen, mostly because her face is so unique, her nose is nothing like Diana's, her eyes, and face shape as well (especially since she's portraying her when she had a lot of baby fat in her face). These are all details however but they do make a difference, I've seen the actress playing 90s Diana for the next Crown season and she really looks the part. That's important because the purpose of acting is to make believe, the mission of the actor is to make you as an audience think for an hour or two that she's xyz. That Gaga is Patrizia Gucci, that Kristen is Diana. And Gaga looked the part, so identical in the eyes and eyebrows and appearance, but Kristen doesn't, and so for me it means she has a big challenge, she has to make me believe that she's Diana via other means, mostly mannerisms, voice, and perhaps emotions Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

And Emma Corrin just completely embodied Diana whereas Kristen’s performance doesn’t feel quite as effortless but the film looks gorgeous. Can’t say that I think KStew is a lock for Best Actress though, the British Film Academy is a big part of the Academy’s voting body and if the film doesn’t please them she could fail. Diana had a bigger nose but as you can see from the photos it's not like they are so far apart. In some photos it's really quite striking. Emma Corrin looks way less like Diana but because she is an unknown she's not bringing any baggage. I think expecting an actor to look the spitting image of their character is unfair.
