tylertremallose 1,398
"Last week New Zealand confirmed its first community Covid-19 cases since February, prompting Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to announce the whole country would enter into a strict lockdown. In just over a week, that single case has grown to a cluster of 210, with 198 cases in the country's most populous city, Auckland, Director-General of Health Dr. Ashley Bloomfield said Wednesday. Bloomfield said 11 people from the current outbreak were in hospital with Covid-19, although none are in intensive care. Wednesday's tally is the highest number of infections reported in a single day this year -- at the peak of New Zealand's outbreak last year, the country reported a record daily high of 89 new cases." https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/25/asia/new-zealand-covid-worst-day-intl-hnk/index.html
Plastic Flower 5,586
Wow I didn't expect this I hope they manage to control this. My state (I am from the south region of Mexico) has reported 1000 cases every day for the last 2 weeks and we don't seem to improve. Vaccination is going really slow. I am not getting it until mid September probably. Drop it

AsleepOnTheCeiling 6,974
That's almost insane. But it sounds like that man wasn't the only one infected when they went into lockdown. Really sad to hear though considering a lot of the country isn't vaccinated and we'll never stop hearing from lockdown critics now.
Kitana 1,830
just shows how fast this virus travels and how important lockdowns are. they only KNEW of one case. there is always more and this could go way worse without any instant precautions You will learn respect! RahrahWitch 6,985
And people said they overreacted to a single confirmed case. Imagine if nothing was done and it was able to spread even further. Hopefully they can get it under control

Rising cases will be normal. The solution is the vaccine people need to fcking get! also using just the cases as a number to decide seems outdated and not efficient 2 years later. We should check cases + hospitalisation numbers, while reacting fast if there is a need in equipment/utensils in the hospitals.

We don’t really have to imagine considering that’s what’s happening with the delta variant
