Why does Gaga almost never acknowledge current events?

I have no doubt that Gaga is being honest when she talks about how much she cares about the world. But it's for that reason that I don't understand why she almost never publicly acknowledges or talks about significant world events.

It's no exaggeration to say that she has one of the biggest platforms in the world, she has literally millions of people paying attention to everything she posts.

Last summer she put her power to great use by sharing information and most importantly by fully giving that platform to people who deserve it, to talk about black issues and the BLM movement. She also posted a lot about the election.

But that's about it tbh. AFIK she has never given so much of her platform to a specific cause before or since BLM/election. What about what's happening in Afghanistan right now? Or the Haiti earthquake. Or what's happening in Palestine. Or the millions of other issues she could shine a light on.

Of course she couldn't possibly cover every single issue in the world. But surely as someone who supposedly cares so much about the world, and who frankly hasn't been that busy for the past few years, she could be using her platform to inform her millions of (mostly young) followers about some key issues in the world every so often?

She almost never shares fundraising/donation links or even just general information about these sort of things, when she has the power to make a huge difference to many causes.

I'm sure she donates to plenty of things, and I also imagine she maybe feels uncomfortable asking fans to donate to things when she is so wealthy, but idk, I think if you're going to make your whole brand and identity about "kindness" I think she could be utilising her massive platform a lot more.

I can understand the concern that she could help share information about causes that could use donation/support, etc., but speaking about every current event isn’t always the most comfortable thing for everyone. If you say the wrong thing while trying to post in good faith, you’re attacked. If you say the correct thing, you’re attacked by jerks on the opposite side. Not everyone has the ability/sound mental health to throw themselves into that kind of attention.

I can certainly see your concern, but I think the need for celebrities to speak about every issue isn’t as ideal or necessary as it previously seemed.

I’ve always seen it as she is an entertainer. She shouldn’t be expected to constantly discuss things like that. Her job is to entertain… Now promoting her entertainment is a whole other thread that I’m sure will be created this week per the usual drag thread of the week

exactly this. she doesn't owe us her beliefs when that often causes issues for celebrities. especially on social media.

Not everything has to be made public. I’m sure she does a lot that we don’t know about and she’s still one of the most active advocates out there. She can’t make a big thing out everything that happens otherwise she would literally never have time for anything else. The real question is why she ignored chromatica

I think she focus on whatever issue somehow touchs her more, or it's more close to her, or her circle of people, or that she thinks she can make some difference by focus on it. To be honest it's something I don't wonder about even. Unfortunately this world is full completely full of issues, that when you really pay attention to it, you get angry, sad and hopeless. However don't even think of Gaga, or what can she do, when I see horrible events on the news.

meanwhile, more successful actors and other new actors have enough time to say something.... that said, I am happy that she is not outspoken about every single thing, I am really not into celebrities being smart asses about everything going on in the world.

She’s not obligated more than any one person is to comment on world events, and she’s done her fair share of advocacy for sooooo many essential issues. She didn’t have to do what she did and make herself a target for hatred & hate groups alike. Modern day Jesus type beat

Why do we expect pop stars to save the world?

The world is a dark place, and there are things happening at all times, in every part of the world. Nobody has the ability to talk about all current events, it's impossible. We only see a fragment of events in the media. 

Also, she may be putting her wealth into projects without us knowing. Sometimes its not necessary to be public about donations, organizations, etc. It's a waste of time to wonder why she isn't doing what you expect her to do.

she is no hasabi, you need to be very self-centered to feel like you need to share your opinion or sentiment about everything all the time, and she already said she's at a loss of word because she's not always knowledgeable about stuff happening regarding social or political stuff

most likely thats why

if she's uneducated about it, she doesn't want to say something dumb

she didn't know what to say when blm happened either

but she learned and is talking now

so maybe she's going to get more info about what's happening right now too and speak in the future, who knows
