Actually, no, there are rules about misusing reactions.  The sad reaction is intended to express sympathy, not to be a passive aggressive way to disagree with people.

And I wouldn't think I'd have to explain the sarcasm to someone who was culturally aware of such a basic fact.  When you explain a joke, it ruins it.  Comedy 101.

The joke was clear enough because the "idea" to rip off someone who had the "idea" of ripping off someone else explains it.
