Getting arrested for hiring prostitutes to bribe people and gambling sounds like something that happens all the time in the US, but obviously this is a much darker case than that.

To be honest "hiring prostitutes" makes it sound respectable. Prostitution may be illegal in Korea, but the country has a huge problem with human trafficking and forced prostitution (Russian women and Southeast Asian women are the most common victims) and these.... definitely were not Feminist OnlyFans Content Creators that were paid fair wages.

The scandal that kicked this off was at the Burning Sun nightclub (owned by Seungri), where a man was assaulted by the club's security, after he had noticed that the club staff had drugged female clubgoers and collected their unconcious bodies. Investigative journalists got a hold of the security footage and an explicit video of one of Seungri's "business partners" raping an unconcious woman in the backroom of the club. The baseline accusation is that this was a regular occurance at Seungri's club, that happened with his explicit consent (Club staff drugging women for Seungri's business partners to rape them backdoors).

After some further digging, investigative journalists uncovered KakaoTalk chatrooms (Korea's equivalent of WhatsApp) of (young) male Korean celebrities raping women, video taping themselves doing it and sending it to their male celebrity friends.

That is so terrifying and evil! He definitely deserves are harsher sentence, I shudder to think of the amount of women that he has hurt...
