Who Is The Laziest Pop Star?

From the main pop girlies? Adele and Rihanna and to an extent Gaga.

Gaga commits so hard for a period of time towards something then she’ll act like it never existed for the majority of its life cycle :saladga:

I don’t think it’s cause she’s necessarily  lazy but she likes to move onto wtv is next, she always has a drive to do something else asap once she’s put something out. So like I suspect she was ecstatic with the opportunity of Gucci/Love for sale, that promoting Chromatica (especially amongst a pandemic) lost her interest. My advice to her would be to slow down and to commit to wtv she’s doing in the moment. Kinda like how it was before ARTPOP.

As for Rihanna, now I may get bashed for saying this but she always striked me as a bag chaser, not that there’s anything wrong with that but how do you go from doing the most (album every year) to doing none. Especially that her team is always on the hunt for hits to buy from writers, almost all her hits were intended for diff artists. I think what actually happened is that her staggering success in the beauty/fashion industry, made her realize that music = more work for less money. So I’m guessing moving forward music is gonna be a hobby of hers, expect her to have a release cycle similar to Adele from now on.

As for Adele, I think she’s simply scared to live up to 21 and 25 and probably sits on a body of work for longer than she should. But it’s only doing the opposite of what she thinks. People will always be there for her cause of her voice but if she keeps people waiting too long, people will forget or newer vocal talent is bound to overshadow.

Calling Gaga lazy!

You ingrates, she got two oscar nods and won one!

And she might win one this cycle too and she will release a jazz standard soon!

She's working and just not pigeonholed to pop.

Adele. She sits in a chair or walks along a path in every single music video. I want to see you shake what your momma gave you. :unicorn:

Has to be Gaga. Getting on for seven months since she sang a national anthem at a presidential inauguration, three months since she shot an A-list movie, almost a full week since she completed the second of two sold-out concerts for which she got universally rave reviews and, incredibly, not once has she even picked up the phone to me despite the fact that I've bought (ok, that's a stretch) all of her albums. NOT ONCE !!

I'd say Beyoncé. Don't fight me but the girl has rest on her past achievements a lot these past few years. Lately she's serving the same afro-trap songs about being a powerful black woman. Not that this isn't a good thing, but she really needs to give us something else cause it's getting boring.

And also, maybe Ariana, cause I feel like she's not trying that hard to find a new sound during the creative process of her last albums. Beside the singles, there's a lot of fillers songs that sounds the same or are really lazy on 'Sweetener', 'Thank U, Next' and 'Positions'. I'm thinking 'Blazed', 'The Light Is Coming', 'Successful', 'Sweetener', 'Borderline', 'Make Up', 'Fame Smile', 'Motive', 'Six Thirty', 'West Side', 'Obvious', 'Main Thing'... The same trap-pop beast, not really an intensive work on the melodies... I don't know if it's laziness or disinterest but I hope that, for her next album, she'll come up with something new and refreshing. But other than that, she has some incredible non singles- songs, with stunning vocals and gorgeous productions on these last albums such has... 'Better Off', 'Goodnight N Go', 'Needy', 'Bloodline', 'Bad Idea', 'In My Head', 'Just Like Magic', 'Off The Table', 'Safety Net', 'My Hair', 'Nasty', 'Love Language', 'POV'... So I have mixed feelings about her.

Finally, I'm thinking about Selena Gomez. I know she had some health issues but she's giving me "I don't care about my music anymore" vibe. Like she released an EP lately and the day after its release she forgot about it. And the music wasn't good at all... 'De Una Vez' was a good promise, too short but still, but the EP ended up being lazy and uninspired.

I'm not really a fan of her but she does write many of her songs. In fact, she has more songs where she is the sole writer than Gaga and many other pop stars.

Yeah, I was surprised when I checked that Gaga was the sole writer only in Brown Eyes, Speechless, Yoü & I and Just Another Day. But I'd say she was the sole writer on other songs but decided to give extra credit to the producers.

I can't genuinely say who's the laziest, (Probably Lana) but I'll just name two who could never enter this list: Taylor Swift and Dula Peep (Although i feel like dua was a bit lazy on her first era).

oreos' target audience were people laying on the couch, she made video they can identify with :ohwell:
Dom Pérignon, Tudor and Voce Viva have more professional photos because they have different target audience

She is literally a yoghurt lady. She was the front woman for Muller Corner for like 5 years and I swear every time she had a spoonful she acted more and more sexually aroused to the point they had to drop her for inapropriate behaviour.

they should watch her shampoo commercial before they hired her:billie:

None of them are lazy. Just because you don't see what's going on behind the scenes means they're sitting on their bums eating bon-bons.

Also, quantity does not equal quality.

Labels do sometimes hold their artists back, no doubt. Rumours that they stop them releasing music just so they own them at the label are rife. And it's also a practice for the executives to completely reject an artist's album concept or even chuck their completed album and tell them to start again on something new with more commercial appeal. But a lot of the artists we're naming are icons, legends, they don't need to chase hits and are allowed a lot more artistic control. The length of breaks that a lot of them routinely take suggest they're doing this because they want to and even plan out how long their break will be. And if they aren't married, have no children or any other sort of commitments, what's their excuse? It's odd for us commoners to imagine it but making music is a singer's job, just like we have our 9-5. I wrote my first ever album during lockdown, 13 songs completely solo penned and none of this is my job. But professionals take years to do this with a whole team of songwriters at their disposal to help them if they're stuck for inspiration? I'm not saying they have to put something new out every year or never take a hiatus if the situation calls for it but taking big breaks between every.single.album.is.not.it.

And quantity/quality depends on the artist. Absolutely artists of lesser talent really downgrade when they put out music too frequently as they just cover old ground and have nothing new to say but others of supreme talent never seem to falter no matter how frequently they release. Case in point - Lana Del Rey. Just my opinion, of course, but it's rare to see an artist these days put out high quality work with albums released every 1-2 years. And there's nothing worse than waiting years for an album that sounds as if it was thrown together at the last minute and doesn't even have that many tracks. That's just a slap in the face. If you're going to serve average quality, at least have the good grace to make it frequent and only take your time if you're cooking up quality.

Nicole had chance to perform in Broadway's Cats but she has chosen to be a judge on X Factor instead.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is not happy with Nicole Scherzinger, who received an Olivier nomination for her role of Grizabella in London's Cats revival and was expected to reprise her performance in the upcoming Broadway production. Turns out, she pulled out at the eleventh hour. "I'm furious because I really believe she's the most fantastically talented girl and I went out on a limb to get her for the London Palladium here," the legendary composer said "Never mind. There will be another girl on Broadway and Nicole will not get her Tony Award."

I didn't know she was offered Broadway! Apparently she quit a week before rehearsals because she wasn't given top billing, according to Wikipedia? What a bizarre and frankly, egotistical reason to quit. Webber's right, an Olivier nomination could've just been the start if she'd followed through and she could have at the very least had "Tony nominee" to her name. 2 years later, back to X Factor judging, resulting in one win for a contestant who was forgotten about the very next day. Wonder if she thinks it was worth it? But she did meet her current boyfriend during judging the celebrity X Factor in 2019, so she got that out of it I guess.

Rita Ora.

Who even is she? She just pops up every few years and drops a song or two. She's just kinda... there... but only sometimes. Does she even tour? Is there such a thing as a Rita Ora fanbase? I will not Google it to find out

P.S. I'm not being critical I literally don't care lol honestly good on her. Girl get your bag n get out. I respect that. Only doing as much as she wants to. But it feels weird that I know who she is like any other popstar, but I can barely picture her face past red lipstick, and can't even name a single song of hers

I'm with you. I know the whole fall-out of why her second album wasn't released (Calvin Harris always maintained that he "had a damn good reason" for refusing to let her use that material and considering they were dating at the time, clearly, there's more going on there) but I don't believe she was held back as much as 4 years after that. She took all that time because she doesn't write her own work, so she's at the mercy of her songwriters and producers and as we saw in Calvin's case, if they decide to bail, she can't use those songs. I thought after all this time that she'd try to write her own work to avoid this in future but apparently not. She says she's been working on an album since 2019 but nothing's come about other than that very short EP this year which didn't go anywhere. Then she's back to reality tv judging and endorsement deals, maybe an occasional bit part in a movie. Which is fine, but I wish such celebrities wouldn't call themselves singers. You should define yourself by your full-time job.
