He was just tired of her overbearing/ scolding/bossy personality trying to tell him what to do in his business. He did start dating again while they were still legally married, but they didn't file for divorce for years after they separated, so I think that's fair honestly. No, he actually dated another woman between leaving Patrizia and getting together with Paola. It was wanting to get married to Paola (according to her, I don't believe they were formally engaged? but they did live together) that lead to him finally asking for a divorce though, so Patrizia certainly hated her. She'd always held out hope that they'd get back together. I'm wondering if the movie will spin it like he left her for Paola though, for added drama?
