I always kinda thought that Nietzsche was just incredibly...well, one note. And I was pleasantly refreshed with this video. The gay tangent makes me wonder if its just specific if the phenomenon of envy towards same sex partners is more common with gay women over gay men. Like, I often get asked (from straight family members) why would lesbians want to date butch lesbians if they're attracted to women, wouldn't they want to date feminine women. And I never really had a good answer beyond "well, they're still women, its not like their so masculine they sprout penises." But it's also kinda well known that gay men typically do desire masculine men, and those that desiring feminine men is that minority (I remember seeing studies on it, and its at a rate of like 75-80% want masc men and 20-25% want feminine men). Yea, I kinda had a similar though when watching that part cuz, and I'm sure it exists in some gay men, but from my perspective, while I definitely have body image issues and have attempted pursuing the fitness-model-esque physique countless times, I can genuinely say it's because I want to attract someone fit and in my mind that's the best way to do that, not because I'm really envious of men with that kind of body... I'm not confused at all about who I want to be, and that is someone wrapped in the arms of a big naked buff guy who squeezes me until I can't breathe It's a joke! Same, and honestly it's not like the idea has never occurred to me that my mind has a way of justifying my stagnation by saying 'well, you're depressed, and your homophobic upbringing did this to you' - and I realize that while sulking and bitterness can be cathartic, in the end it will bring me nothing but misery... But somehow Natalie reaffirming that notion is weirdly comforting, which is why I watched this video several times now - by the end there's a sense of comfort and relief I don't experience very often when watching youtube vidoes It's a joke!
