Film critic from the Observer publication messaged me back. They confirmed the full review embargo doesn’t lift until November 22.

Welp. Weird strategy outside of Marvel films, but it is what it is. Hope it's a No Time to Die situation (imo film twitter/journos gave the impression it was very mixed, and then it ended up in the mid 80s on RT and with a good MC score) but a bit wary now...still doubt it will be universally panned, though, as the promo/release date doesn't make sense if that's the case. Unfortunately, I suspect PopCrave, etc, which has a huge follower account, will amplify any negative social media posts instead of focusing on the positive ones...

Twitter is a tiny percentage of the public, but if the social buzz is decent it will be interesting to see if they lift the embargo earlier as I believe that has happened a few times in the past.

Hopefully critics won’t tear this to pieces but critics can be out of touch with audiences lots of the time so I wouldn’t worry too much if the reviews are mixed or negative.

La Rosalia

The ability that this fan base has to avoid enjoying things. The movie isn’t even out and you’re are already contemplating the possibility of Gaga’s actress being over 💀

It's perfectly normal for us to be nervous about reviews. I mean-- you know Gaga is.

Literally the future of her career depends on how her performance is received in this film. Everyone wants to know if A Star is Born was a fluke... did we only like her because she could sing amazingly? That's what everyone in Hollywood wants to know.

Stay out of the reviews thread if you don't like speculation before release, and certainly don't police how people should feel.

Okay, but all actors have bad projets...This isn't the end of Gaga's acting career even if this movie isn't that good. Gaga can act and people know it.

It's perfectly fine to feel nervous about the movie, but let's also not be melodramatic about it.

It's definitely not the end, no, but it assuredly decides what kind of offers come in. Just like it does with anyone. Let's not be unrealistic about it-- it's a business.

Even if the movie itself is bad, Gaga's acting will probably be one of the highlights. I think she'll be fine. It can affect future deals moving forward, but even then, she's still a big name and she's a very competent actress. She'll get work.

Gaga thinks her biggest enemy is her. But really her biggest enemy are the so-called "fans" who literally never have confidence in her new projects :lmao:

Being nervous about it doesn't have to mean not having confidence in her, it's just being unsure how it will be received. And also having empathy that whatever they will say is going to affect Gaga as well

I agree. I am nervous for this film but not because I'm concerned it will signal the end of Gaga's career like so many here are implying :billie: That's the issue I have. Some people act like this is THE make or break it, when she's proved them wrong for nearly 14 years.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

I'm just nervous because Gaga seemed to have chosen carefully and thoughtfully the next move after A Star is Born. I would be a little bit sad if this film turns to be a disappointment for her and the critics.

Not that I think she'll be over, even in Hollywood. However, it would be great if she had another great run throughout the awards season. I wish she could end this season by achieving the status of a professional movie star, one that not only knows how to choose her projects but is also capable of delivering what it's asked of her. That would put her in the mind of great directors, like Wes Anderson or Denis Villeneuve, or Tarantino.

That said, she will be just fine, no matter what. Gaga will have other opportunities if she wants to.

I'm excited for the soundtrack! The news about the use of Baby Can I Hold You, and 80s music in general got me really looking forward to this. ❤

F the critics! Let us enjoy this! :firega:

Also, don't let a few critics dictate online sentiment by melting down at every instance of a PROBABLY negative review. Let's not amplify those voices any further. Spread the good word of mouth instead, and there has been A LOT of those already.

People need to just enjoy the new Gaga movie for whatever it may be when it comes out and stop worrying about little things
